Muscle Milk TWMX Race Series Profile: Deegan Von Lossberg
Deegan Von Lossberg, 15 Palmdale, CA Sponsors: Yamaha, Thousand Oaks Powersports, Thor, Dunlop, Eks Brand Deegan Von Lossberg has been out to the first two rounds of the Muscle Milk/TWMX Winter Cup and his speed and skill caught our attention. Watching him on the track is proof that he is a strong and seasoned competitor, even at the age of 15. During the day at the Glen Helen round of the series, he was in heated battles throughout the day in both the Schoolboy and 250F Intermediate classes. As the track became rough, Von Lossberg showed his prowess on the track, keeping the bike in control and maintaining speed. Getting ready for a new year of racing the amateur nationals, we caught up with Deegan to get to know him a little better. What brings you out to the Muscle Milk/Transworld series? It’s a pretty good turnout. Other races we go to will have five or six people in a class, there was 26 people in my class today. It is just a lot more fun. How did you get your start in motocross? When I was about 2-1/2 years old, I got a PW50 and I rode it around the house. I started riding in the desert until I was about 9 or 10, then I started riding the tracks. What is it about motocross that choose it over other sports? I’ve always rode motocross, I used to play baseball but didn’t really like it much. I just enjoy motocross, when you do good you feel accomplished. Just going to the nationals and doing well is what it is about. What is your biggest accomplishment in racing so far? My biggest accomplishment would probably be a 9th at Loretta’s on Supermini II in 2012, and also racing at the Monster Cup that year. How long have you been on the big bikes? I’ve been on the bigger bikes for about a year and a half now. What are your plans for racing in the new year? We will probably do the Texas nationals in March, Freestone and Oak Hill, then from there we will go to World Mini here at Glen Helen, the California Classic, Mammoth and then hopefully Loretta’s. What is your goal in motocross? Do you want to turn it into a career? Hopefully I will get to supercross and the outdoors and hopefully be in the top 20 and get on a team. As you were growing up, what rider has been your inspiration? When I was younger it was Carmichael, but now it is Barcia, Roczen or Tomac, guys like that. What does motocross do for you? I just love it. It is pretty much all I do, I am home schooled so I ride three or four times a week and it takes up all my time, as well as getting on my road bike to train. Is your main form of training your road bike? Yeah, I just got my road bike a couple months ago, so I’ve been doing that. I ride almost every day. What other activities do you do besides motocross and racing? Not really, just all motocross. I don’t have time for anything else.
