Jefferson, Wisconsin – February 17th, 2014: It was a season highlight for the CycleTrader.com/Rock River/Yamaha team as Round 7 of the Monster Energy/AMA Supercross Series took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. For the first time ever, the team would qualify for both the 250 & 450 Main Events in the same night; Alex Martin earning his spot with an 8th place in 250 Heat #2 and Kyle Chisholm transferring to his respective Main Event with a 4th in 450 Semi #1.
In his Supercross debut with the team, Millville, Minnesota native Alex Martin would put in an impressive showing aboard his Yamaha YZ250F. Martin would transfer into the night program with a 48.721 best lap time during daytime Qualifying Practice; 17th fastest out of the 80 total entries in the 250 class. Alex would line up in 250 Heat #2, where he would make the cut directly to the Main Event with an 8th place finish.
At the green flag of the 250 Main Event, Martin crossed the finish line running in 15th position. By lap 10, Martin had moved his way forward five positions into 10th place, and with 5 laps to go he continued to push forward. At the checkered flag, Martin crossed the line in 9th spot, with the top finish for Yamaha in the class. This marked the season’s first top ten finish in either class for the CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha Team.
Kyle Chisholm would also bring home a solid ride on his Yamaha YZ450F, beginning the day with the 14th fastest time out of Qualifying Practice; a 47.590. Kyle was placed into 450 Heat #1, but would unfortunately miss qualifying position by 4 spots with an 8th place finish. The Semi qualifiers however would go Chisholm’s way, as he earned his spot into the 450 Main Event with a 4th place finish in Semi #2.
Chisholm would begin the 450 Main Event in 15th position, and by lap 7 had moved into 13th. Kyle would continue to ride smart throughout the Main Event, holding off a late race charge by Nick Wey to hold onto the 13th spot. It was Chisholm’s best race of the season thus far, as he continues to improve each week.
The CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha team looks to build on these solid performances from both Alex Martin & Kyle Chisholm as the series moves to Atlanta, Georgia for Round 8 on February 22nd.
