With Trey Canard still missing from the action of the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross Series, Team Honda Muscle Milk began eyeing a short term rider for the open factory bike. The decision to drop Cole Seely, a former fill-in for the team, into the mix at round nine in Indianapolis could not have been a wiser choice, since the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda rider is a natural aboard the bigger bike and it was confirmed that other factory rider Justin Barcia would also have to miss the Midwest stop after minor injures from a practice crash in Atlanta.
