2014 MXGP Of Thailand Preview

Si Racha | Si Racha, Chonburi, Thailand
Length – 1550 meters (.963 miles)
Soil – Intermediate/Soft

Asia is another untapped region of the planet with a rich motorcycle culture, and although motocross is very niche, Thailand has worked its way onto the schedule with a track just outside of Bangkok. The tropical climate is just what one would expect, as racers overcame oppressive humidity and high temperatures at last year’s inaugural running in Si Racha for a grueling test early in the year. With one of the  major cities just kilometers away, the GP of Thailand will be part race and part vacation.

Weather forecasts for Si Racha have the region in the high 80s and low 90s, with no predicted chance of rain. A change for the 2014 schedule is the elimination of the “Super Final” Main Event at the MXGP of Thailand, which has been dropped in favor of a traditional second moto for both classes.

After the field worked through first race nerves, with Guatier Paulin and Jeffrey Herlings taking overall victories in the MXGP and MX2 divisions, expect the action to intensify in Thailand. The track is more like what they will face through the rest of the season and will occur in the morning and afternoon. Coverage will be broadcast in the United States on Sunday morning at 9AM EASTERN STANDARD TIME. To watch live, visit www.MXGP-TV.com.
