There may be one round left in the 2014 Monster Energy Supercross Series, but as far as the premier championship goes, Ryan Villopoto has left no questions unanswered. In one of his most dominant performances yet, RV drove the final nail into the coffin that houses all of his rivals’ championship hopes, with a start-to-finish romp in New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. RV’s closest pursuer in the title hunt, James Stewart, suffered a badly twisted knee early in the main event and pulled off the track, leaving Ryan Dungey to take over second in the point standings with his eventual sixth-place finish. GEICO Honda’s Justin Bogle, meanwhile, turned in a near-perfect ride to earn his second win of the season and take the lea din the 250 East Coast Championship. That, and the 250 West Coast title fight between Rockstar Energy Racing’s Jason Anderson and Lucas Oil/Troy Lee Designs/Honda rider Cole Seely, are all that’s left to be decided in this weekend’s Las Vegas series finale.
As always, there’s much more going on at the races than the results columns can reveal, and that, friends…is why we have Monday Kickstart, presented by BTO Sports. Enjoy!
