Outdoor Testing Begins | Milestone MX

The final round of the Monster Energy Supercross series may have just wrapped up this past weekend, but in the competitive world of professional motocross, there is no rest for the weary. Only four days since the last checkered flag few indoors, riders and teams are already feverishly preparing and testing for the fast-approaching Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Championship, which is slated to begin on May 24th at Glen Helen. We headed out to Milestone MX today where both the Vet track and Main track are combined on Wednesdays, and the majority of the top racers show up to get time in on a long well-prepped track. Check out the photos below to wet your appetite for the great outdoors.

The entire Yoshimura Suzuki team was on hand, testing outdoor settings. In Supercross, Stewart was running the new Showa Triple Air Fork, however, after some malfunctions late in the season, it appears from what we saw at Milestone that he has gone back to the traditional spring fork. Teams go through numerous settings before finalizing on one, so it will be interesting to see what Stewart ends up racing with at Glen Helen.

By the looks of how fast he was going, the knee Stewart twisted at the penultimate round of the Supercross series in New York hasn’t hindered his speed. He was flying on the lengthy Milestone circuit.

Myplash/Yamaha’s Cooper Webb was spinning some very fast laps. This season will mark his second year of professional MX racing. We snapped this picture while his mechanic was working on his machine between motos.

With so many fast riders on the track on Wednesdays, things can get a little heated. Right after this picture was snapped, Scarbrough went over the top of the berm.

JGR/Toyota/Yamaha’s Josh Grant has been putting in a lot of time preparing for the outdoor season over the past couple weeks. Word is that he is looking forward to the MX season beginning. And yes, he was going very fast today.

All of the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda team was on hand, with some of them sporting new gear colorways that were debuted this past weekend in Vegas. Here, Shane McElrath shows off the bright gear.
