2014 Monster Energy Cup

We might be in the middle of the summer, but our attention is starting to turn towards the upcoming 2014 Monster Energy Cup this October. This will be the fourth running of the off-season race with the largest possible purse and from the looks of things, will reflect all that Feld Motorsports has come to know in event promotions. Freestyle motocross, drift cars, monster truck, and the full fleet of Monster Energy’s vehicle army in the pits was a race fan’s dream and built the excitement for the on-track action that took place later that evening, which was won by Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart.

In order to create a unique and racy track, Feld partners with Dirt Wurx and Ricky Carmichael and deploys elements more akin to a video game than a round of the Monster Energy Supercross Series. Riders are tested by massive banked turns, long rhythm lanes, and high-speed straightaways, then have to remember to pass through the Joker Lane one time in each of the three main events. After weeks of anticipation, we have our first look at the 2014 layout.

This year’s track might just be the fastest yet, as the dueling starts run the length of Sam Boyd Stadium before making 180-degree turns and meeting in the middle of the floor for a long sand rhythm section. The design and placement of the Joker Lane seems better than ever, and it will send riders over a series of jumps while their competition powers around a flat sweeping corner. A long run along the perimeters of the stadium and back by the pit area will result in the highest speeds ever seen in Supercross, with the placement of a pair of ski jumps on opposite sides being the only things to slow things back down. After re-entering the stadium, riders will barrel around the AMSOIL Arch before dropping right in to the center of the circuit.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2014 Monster Energy Cup, which will be held Saturday, October 18th, 2014, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Click here for additional information, pricing, schedules, and travel arrangements.
