The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship made a return to Indiana over the weekend with the inaugural visit to Crawfordsville, Indiana, the culmination of years of work at an all-new facility in the rural outskirts of Indianapolis. A thrilling course was sculpted by Marc Peters on the same grounds as the iconic GNCC course, which drew instant acclaim from riders during Thursday’s riding sessions for the local press. Unfortunately, a heavy summer storm front rolled through the area moments before practice began on Saturday morning and completely destroyed the venue. Water rushed down the steep hills and into the basin, where it pooled in the pit area and between obstacles on the course.

What played out on the track was close to madness. Riders struggled to maintain a flow around the track, fought issues with vision, and coaxed their overworked machines to the finish line. Standing trackside for all of this was photographer Jeff Kardas, who braved the elements with his equipment and shot a complete look at the day in the Indiana muck. Below is a collection of our favorite images from the day, with more to come later in the week via Kardy’s selection of wallpapers.
