Jay Marmont Wins at Australasian Supercross
The Australasian SuperX Series has been absolutely dominated by Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki’s Chad Reed this season. As Reed accounts for about 50 percent of the promoting partnership of the championship series, he has successfully utilized his celebrity to help promote the series while simultaneously training for the upcoming AMA Supercross Series. So, it has been no surprise that Reed has won every moto he’s lined up for; that is, until this past weekend.
Round six of the SuperX Series played host to a unique man v. man elimination format as well as welcomed Supercross legend Jeremy McGrath as a competitor. Before the gates dropped, most probably bet on McGrath and Reed squaring off against each other in the final, but to everyone’s surprise, neither racer made it past their semi final. Instead Jay Marmont picked off Reed in their head-to-head semi and Daniel McCoy edged out McGrath in theirs.
At the end of the night, it was Marmont who took the overall and kept his championship hopes alive heading into the seventh round.

What a terrible article…doesn’t at all mention the fact that it was PISSING down rain and that Chad had a slight tip-over which ended his chances (in a 2 lap race)
I watched the race and he was clearly faster than the rest of the Aussie riders. This article makes it sound like he was beat straight-up. “Jay marmont picked off Reed in their head to head semi” - yeah right, the chances of that being the case without a crash are between slim and f*ck all….Lame
chad fell off get over it, no one moans when marmont falls or who ever falls chad went for his back wheel into a corner and it didnt work for him..
The guy wasn’t “moaning” about the fact that Chad fell off, if you were paying attention…(obviously you weren’t)
The objection is the misleading nature of the article, which in my opinion, is a fair call…
Jay Marmont couldn’t beat Chad straight up for speed if Chad’s left leg was missing….(which after that nac-nac crash - it almost was! - still, props for attempting to pay respects to the king, even if it didn’t come off!)
kinda like how Reed can’t beat Stewart straight up for speed…The most shocking part of this is that someone is actually taking Reeds side. I didn’t think anyone liked that guy.
Even RC admitted he couldn’t beat JS straight up for pure speed…however over the course of a championship it was a different matter! As may be the case for Reed in 09..the guy sure is consistent.
PS - if you don’t think anyone likes Chad Reed, you’re either an idiot (highly likely) or you know nothing about the sport! Chad has masses of fans, especially givn that he is a foreign rider(to the US).
and he fell off in the 3rd place final remember? trying to show off to Mcgrath, he attempted a Nac-Nac, and well… didnt really turn out the way he hoped. LOL, then he straight up denied it when he was interveiwed.
Thats awesome that reed didnt win! And to you saying ” O it was only two laps and if he wouldnt have fallen he would have won!” Well guess what.. he did fall! and Marmont didnt! Thats why he won! So quit tryin to vouch for him! We all know he is fast, but he still LOST!!
That’s pure insight Drew, straight up…thanks for pointing that out. All of us are now dumber for having read your post….
it was good riding for daniel coy too, he will be riding in the states this year to, so going into the final round of super x having come second then flyng over to the states it should have given him some more confidence another fresh aussie..
one week before chad lapped up to 2nd place in a 20 lap final i think that explains who is the best. Man on man was a load of crap if they had the top ten shootout at townsville chad would of had 3 secs on all of them. no wonder why he wants 20 lap finals so this crap doesnt happen.
People crash thats racing. marmont won reed crashed. end of story. everyone seems to be forgetting that it wasnt that long ago everyone was saying reed only won the sx this year becoz stewart was injured. at the end of the day reed still got the trophy as did marmont.
