RUMOR OF THE DAY

The 250 class of the AMA Outdoor Nationals is shaping up like a true 250cc class, from sources within the industry. Strokes will NOT matter. Also, rumor has it that U.K.-transplant and MDK/KTM rider Tommy Searle will run a 250 two-stroke. How rad would that be?!

ASTERISK CHARITY RIDE

This past Saturday was the Asterisk Mobile Medical Center Charity Mountain Bike Ride in Vail Lake, CA. The event was put on by Mike Sleeter with the intentions of giving a little back to Doc Bondar and the Asterisk’s crew for all of their hard work. “Doc Bodnar and his crew have helped me out more than enough at all of the races, and I wanted to pay them back somehow, so I decided to organize this event,” said Sleeter. Doc Bodnar, Rookie Sorenson, Justin Brayton, Erin Normoyle, Victor Sheldon, and Daniel Reardon were just a few of the participants on hand. Our good buddy Will Topete was on hand on Saturday and was kind enough to share some of his photos of the event.

YAMAHA TT-R FUN DAY

Tim Olson of Yamaha played host to the 2009 TT-R Fun day this weekend, which was held at Fox Racing’s mini moto track. The event was an opportunity for the industry to play around on the 2009 TT-R’s and ride Fox’s exclusive track. Overall, the event was a success and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.

tired of hearing that 250 2 strokes can ride with 250f’s. Most BS rule of the AMA so far.

  • motokid644 Says:

yeh, a 250 2banger will kill the 250f, but hey, if u got the 2 stroke 250, and were alowed to race it against the 250f’s youde be pumped

  • chris Says:

almost as much BS as 450s against 250s!

  • twitch125 Says:

actually 250 2strokes and 250 4 strokes are around the same lap time with the same rider because the 10 extra hp of a 2 stroke matches the easy ridability of the 4 stroke

  • sancho Says:

I sure hope so I was planning on buying a YZ250 next time anyways. 2-strokes are so much more fun. I can go fast(for me) easier on a 450 but I feel lazy and its so much more expensive to maintain.

  • Christian Says:

I wish they would include that in the new changes…give the two stroke a chance to stick around…wasn’t fair when Henry rolled up with his power advantage either…people who raced both..still believe in the two stroke…

  • skateordie Says:

so what if a 250 2 stroke can race against a 250f. That would be the coolest thing ever bringing 2 strokes back in the game plus they could run limitations to where only a bone stoke 250 2 stroke could run against a fully modded 250f then the 250f would have way more of a chance of beating the 2. Also more privateers could race with a stock 250 2 stroke becuase they are so much cheaper and easier to work on then a 250f

  • skateordie Says:

so what if a 250 2 can go against a 250f. It will bring the 2 strokes back and if they are such and unfair advantage then set limitations too like a fully moded 250f against a stock 250 2 then they would be more equal

  • Rook Says:

the ama shold just ve the rules alone for once and quit tampering with things

  • skippy Says:

Donn has tasted a dick or two in his day!

  • gresh693 Says:

hey, skippy is that tasting in thestates or down under?

  • Holeshot413 Says:

    It makes PERFECT sense!!

Should have happened 3-4 years ago!!
With the economy as it is also this will make racing 3 TIMES MORE AFFORDABLE!!!!!!!!

  • Anderson636 Says:

im not againts bringing them back

but two strokes are pretty much dead. at least in professional MX and SX

i think four strokes should just be accepted

  • ben Says:

they should bring back the 2 strokes

  • connor Says:

So then whats going on with the 45-0 class. Is it just going to be the 450’s alone because i ride a 250 f right now…. and i honestly dont mind the change with both the 250’s in them, not a big bother for me. but that is just my opinion. I was thinking of moving up to the 450, but im not sure if i should stay in the 125 class, 250 class now i guess….or moving up into riding a 450? With this new change im just not sure… haha i still got the good ol 2 banger kicking round, that thing is awesome to goon with ahah…

Anything that will better our sport for spectators and riders is a win win in my eyes! We wont see a result of this decision until they try it. On the track; I dont see any bias advantage.

  • ozzie Says:

    Way to Scrub Andrew !!

  • Motorakid Says:

I’ll believe it when i see it,but that would be great I miss the smells and the sound at Nationals. And what most everyone else is saying and realizes it would help underfunded riders, (and motocross in general!)

  • Motorakid Says:

    Man shut up!

  • Grogan045 Says:

Enough said!! Lets kill the 4 stroke and bring back 2 strokes

  • Smoky' Says:

    I agree , bring back the 2stroke!

  • Doug Says:

If most of you do not know, the 250-2-smoke has been allowed in the ama amateur racing for over a year now,in most cases I’ve seen the 2-stroke does not have that much of an advantage, with a large gate and a built 250-4 stroke that these kids run at the Pro-am’s and L.L.qualifiers,the factory team type bikes, run right with or run away from the 2-stroke, you have to have a real good rider to ride a 250-2-stroke fast,it allows some of the kids with a lot less money to run with the better teams, don’t think for a minute that most of these 250-4-strokes are show room stock, most are factory works type, its no different at the amateur level than it is at the pro’s - a priviteer against the factory rider!

  • Luigi Says:

2 stokes will just make racing way better for fans and racers and dealerships.

  • avis4 Says:

who one the 199 lives contest?

  • Tim Thrower Says:

Bring the 2 stroke back! 125 non pro

  • TWOSTROKESNOJOKE Says:

Everybody wants to twist the throttle on a 2 stroke from time to time, if not full time. That smooth scream of a 2 stroke is music to my ears, the snap of the bike as you drop the clutch with the throttle twisted! And the splendid flick a bility of the bike through corners and in the air, compared to the big heaping monster of a bike. I have never owned a 4 stroke, ridden them, but never bought one. I own both a CR125 and 250, I can rebuild my own motor with ease compared to the 4 stroke, all I have to do is mix that wonderful smelling oil with my gas and Im ready to ride! BRAAAAAP

  • rick Says:

250 vs 250 awe the two stroke is at at advantage you say. I can only laugh now. Since the 4-stroked revolution you have lost power per cc gained a bunch of weight and now are fighting noise pollution (which is a complete joke in a racing series). Didn’t racing start for the development of faster tech anyways not to please some infants ears. Well you aint getting it with the 4-stroke. The 2-stroke is a superior engine to the 4stroke its lighter, more affordable (showroom costs, parts and maintenance),faster and quieter. Work on the pollution part of it bring it back and race it. Note: Dont have a bike dont race dont even care really but thought I would pass on my $.02

  • Louis Mastracchio Says:

Bring back the 2-stroke.I have a 98 RM 250 and it runs like a bear.
