Before the insane racing action got underway at Anaheim 1 this past weekend, we made our rounds through the pits to shoot photos of the trick factory eye candy before it was spoiled. Rather than giving out the secrets of what some of the parts are for, however, this gallery is more for your entertainment in case you didn’t make it out to A1 to see the machines in all their glory. Enjoy, and leave comments or prop this post if you like what you see. Who knows, maybe we can find some answers for you about the parts this next weekend in Phoenix…

on the slide of james bike with the rear master cylinder if u look at the wheel spacer it says left on it and it is on the right side of the bike whats up with that?
January 5th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
if i seen right on my 52″ lcd, even tho speeds broadcast was horrible definition, it looked like some privateers in the 450 class were riding 08′ crf’s can anyone verify this?
January 5th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
yea they probably were, not everybody can buy a new bike every year, and they probably had to much money in the 08s to get rid of them

Good eye bud, I know on my YZ250 there the same part on both sides so I can’t figure this one out.

There were also a few guys riding 250cc four-strokes in the 450 class—since the rule change, guys are now allowed to do that—so those might have been the bikes you saw on the show.

in the slideshow in pic. 43 what is the red box type deal behind the front number plate below the top clamp? who makes stewarts red brake pedal?
January 5th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
That red box in pic. 43 is a transponder that all the guys are required to have on their bikes to race.

Can anyone tell me on photo 32 (Trey Canards Honda) what the copper looking cylinder is that sitting in front of the engine head cover
January 6th, 2009 at 7:31 am
If also looks like Kawi are running 20″ rear rims, (pic 6), Wonder what advantage that gives them?
January 6th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
I though the 09 Honda 450s came with KYB suspension, so whats up with showa stickers on tedesco’s bike
January 6th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
The copper cylinder on Trey’s bike is Factory Connection’s Remote reservoir for the shock.

Showa is a Team Honda sponsor. So they have Showa components on their bikes.

What was Pro Circuit thinking when the created the Tijuana stickers kit on their new pipes? In my opinion, they make the pipe look cheap…Not a quality performance part that Pro Circuit in known for.

isnt that for the lap times and data and stuff???
January 8th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
how and why did you see that?
January 8th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
both of you are wrong. they were all replacement riders and they were used to the ’08’s and didnt have time to test the ’09’s
January 8th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
i think its just the washer, for where the radiator and gas tank attach to the frame, im assuming copper is the lightest and most suitable for that spot…. im just guessing…
January 8th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
do you get thanked for your job? no. these guys are doing their job, theyre on the clock, its not vonlunteer work… sure its polite, but dont waste your time commenting to say thank you for doing what thyre getting paid to do…. and dont say im wasting my time, because hopefully more assholes with nothing better to do will read this comment

I wasn’t wrong, the rules now state that 250f riders can ride their 250cc four-strokes on the opposite Lites coast that they are riding. So East Coast Lites riders can ride their 250cc four-strokes in the Supercross class on the West Coast. I saw a couple of guys on 250fs go by me while I was down on the floor shooting photos…

January 15th, 2009 at 2:15 am

What the Fu#@! You’ve never been thanked by someone for doing a good job! To answer your question “Yes” I been told “thank you” for doing my job I’m paid to do! This is a practice that commonly happens to many people in our sociality.
So next time you watch a supercross, motocross or a free style rider perform at their peek performance, read a good article, view great pictures from this publication or from any other publication (Stop!) don’t think anything, don’t say anything, don’t write anything because we just don’t want to hear what your cranial activity produces.
… Oh and don’t bother responding because nobody here really cares to hear senseless mumbling from your colon….
You must be a worthless piece of crap mindlessly wandering our planet and you’re bad for our sport.

Radiator catch can. So if the bike boils the coolant, it just goes to the can, not on the track.
CRrider: You are a retard.

Well, Very interesting topic… I will tell my friend and they will like this. Thanks…
May 20th, 2009 at 2:48 am
it could be because the wheel was taken off and the spacer was put on the opposite side…
June 4th, 2009 at 11:42 am
hey does anybody know what tire that is in pic 6? yeah its bridgestone, but does anyone know what model?
July 2nd, 2009 at 1:31 am
Its the transmitter that makes their # come up on the tall buliding like monster tower in the middle of the track, it send a signal to a reciever atop the finish line
