Anaheim stadium was stacked to the brim, despite the live broadcast on the SPEED Channel (and the current state of the economy, of course), for the opening round of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. If, for some reason, you were sleeping under a rock, failing to show to the race or spy it on your television set, it pretty much went down like this…

Mitch Payton had to be pleased with his Pro Circuit team going one-two in their heat.

LITES QUALIFYING

In the 2009 Lites West Coast series, it’s a who’s who of talent, and the Anaheim crowd was chomping at the bit to get the racing action started. In the first Lites heat race of the evening, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ryan Morais nabbed the holeshot with MDK/KTM’s Justin Brayton close in tow. Just behind them, Ryan Dungey suffered a scary crash before the finish line, going straight over the bars, and was unable to continue. Morais’ teammate, Jake Weimer, found his way around Brayton and eventually moved around Mo for the lead. At the conclusion of the six-lap sprint, Weimer held on for the win with Morais in second and Brayton taking third. Just behind the lead pack, Chris Gosselaar rode strong for a fourth place finish while MotoConcepts Racing’s Jeff Alessi rounded out the top five.

In Lites qualifying heat number two, 2008 Eastern Region Lites SX champ Trey Canard came out with the holeshot and early lead. However, it had to of felt like a practice day at the test track for Canard, as fellow teammate Daniel Reardon was only a few bike lengths behind Canard. Defending West Coast Lites Supercross champion Jason Lawrence sat in the fourth position in the early stages of the heat, but eventually made his way around Chris Blose and Reardon to set his sights on Canard. J-Law wasted no time going after Canard, however, Canard bobbled on lap number four after the first triple, going down in the bowl turn and handing Lawrence the lead and the eventual win. Behind Lawrence, Reardon hung on for second, Canard picked himself up off the ground for third, and Troy Lee Design Honda’s Chris Blose finished fourth.

With 18 spots on the gate already filled, only two more positions were open for those Lites riders who’d yet to qualify. Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey grabbed the holeshot and never looked back; going on to take the win. Taking home the final transfer spot in the Lites LCQ was MDK/KTM’s Ryan Sipes. Meanwhile, new-comer to the professional ranks, Cole Seeley missed the main event by one spot, but was rewarded with a $250 Medic Card check for his endeavors.

SUPERCROSS QUALIFYING

In the first heat of the much-anticipated Supercross class, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto jumped out in front with the holeshot and did not look back; he quickly checked out and sprinted to the checkers. Keeping the dominance of Kawasaki alive, Timmy Ferry yielded a great start and coasted to a solid second-place finish. The surprise of qualifying came from Steve Boniface, who entered Anaheim I at the last minute under the Troy Lee Designs Honda tent; Boniface was able to hold on to a good start and finish fifth behind superstars, RV, Ferry, Short, and Reed.

The second qualifying heat for the 450 pilots started with a surprising holeshot from Bobby Kiniry, but James Stewart gobbled him up within a few corners. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Josh Grant debuted his fresh fo-fiddy by chasing Stewart around the track for the duration of the moto, eventually finishing second, with Davi Millsaps and Kiniry behind him.

Geico Powersports Honda's Dan Reardon was awarded with the holeshot in the Lites main event.

LITES MAIN EVENT
With the qualifying a now distant memory, twenty of the best Lites riders in the world lined up to kick off the first West Coast Lites SX main event of 2009. When the gate dropped, Geico Powersports Honda’s Daniel Reardon emerged with the holeshot and early lead. Former teammate to Reardon, Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer was in second place and MDK/KTM’s Justin Brayton in third. While Reardon, Weimer, and Brayton battled for position, Jason Lawrence and Trey Canard found themselves on the ground. Joining Canard and Lawrence with poor luck was Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey, who suffered from a bad start.

While Canard, Lawrence, and Dungey were working their way up, Weimer made his move on Reardon to take control of the lead on lap three. While Canard was moving his way through the pack, he again found himself on the ground on lap four. Two laps later, Reardon and Brayton got together on lap six, both losing valuable positions. In the closing stages of the 15-lap main event, Morais capitalized on the mistakes of Reardon and Brayton to move into second place. Though Dungey was able to slice his way through the field to take control of the third place position, defending West Coast Supercross champion Jason Lawrence rode with patience of a true champion, taking his time as he moved his way through the field; eventually finishing fourth on the night.

As the Lites main event dwindled down and the checkered flag waved, Jake Weimer took home his second career Supercross win with Morais close in toe to take home second place, while Dungey rounded out the podium in third.

SUPERCROSS MAIN EVENT

Although 2009 promised to showcase a ton of talent in the big 450 class, there was relatively little rivalry hype surrounding the stars of the sport. Perhaps there should have been…

Regardless, after the first two heat races, the rivalries made themselves apparent. Chad Reed was clearly on top of his game, as was James Stewart and Ryan VIllopoto. Who was going to take it? Reed? Villopoto? Stewart? How about Josh Grant?

When the gates dropped, Stewart grabbed the holeshot is somewhat unsurprising fashion. Josh Grant quickly made chase with Reedy in third. Reed, however, did not waste any time sparking up some 2009 rivalry. He moved on Grant and maneuvered closer to Stewart. On the second lap, Reed tripled to Stewart’s double, then bounded into a quicker line, looking more like the man he was passing than his usual consistent self. From there, it was on. The two sped into a duel for the lead, Reed holding off the Yamaha pilot for four laps. Everyone watching was thinking the exact same thing: “this is going to be crazy if they can both stay on two wheels.”

And the two did… until Stewart moved back into the lead, and Reed found himself chasing him once again. In a blink of an eye, Reed front wheel and Stewart’s rear wheel met and the two were whipped off their bikes and to the ground. Reed managed to regroup and rejoin the race. Stewart, on the other hand, fell victim to a dead bike, unwilling to fire back up. His race was over, twelve laps before it was supposed to. He stormed off the track, but not before a tenacious Josh Grant had retained the lead.

Grant took advantage, riding precisely and mistake-free for the entirety of the remaining laps. And, if it wasn’t for a wayward track banner, Grant would have sailed to victory in less than dramatic fashion. Instead, the crowd were on their feet watching as Grant finished his last three laps with a banner stuck in his rear wheel. He continued to boost every triple, even though his rear end could seize at any moment. Red Bull Honda’s Andrew Short did his best to reel the JGR rider in, but Grant was too far ahead, too precise, and too determined to win. #33 took his first AMA Supercross checkers to the delight of his home crowd.

    who could have predicted that!!!!!!!!!!!

crazy night.. soo nothing happened to JLAW right?

  • Chris Says:

Nothing major. Though I believe he was docked one position post-race for re-entering the track out of position. But, for the most part, all is good with J-Law… other than his helmet visor of course.

  • Lo2Rider Says:

first of all i think windam shoulda smacked the fuck outta him after he took him out

  • ohlwiler Says:

Jason Lawrence did not ride with the patience of a true champion, taking his time as he moved his way through the field; eventually finishing fourth on the night. He actually rode like he was one a mission, at times even making mistakes because of his relentless pursuit of Dungey. At one point his speed sent him off the track and he cut a corner re-entering narrowing the distance between himself and Dungey. Not to take away anything from Lawrence’s performance, but I prefer accurate unbiased reporting, especially for those who were not able to actually watch the race.

  • Ryan B Says:

Finally some good racing that will have every dirt bike guy glued to the tv this is whats needed to go mainstream. Just goes to show if you put yourself in a good position to win even if your not in 1st place things can workout, Josh Grant deserves this win Good Job Josh!! Stewart is just making good racing so thanx, Reedy good job steppin it up bro!! And andrew short did everything I thought he would, consistent and fast. Best race I’ve ever seen.

  • RacerX221 Says:

that kids an asshole… tryin to start shit already and being a dickhead on the first night. I’m glad he made a MISTAKE and fell in the second corner. (i wish he would have got run over) And it’s BS that he didn’t get anything for cuttin the track… if it were someone else they would be sent to last at the snap of a finger. Just another gift for that retard…

  • mike b Says:

Thats B S that Lawrence only got moved one position, He cut a huge portion of the track. He gained more than a couple of seconds on the field with that move. That kid is a Joke.

  • Anonymous Says:

    You’re an idiot.

  • A Says:

Why have a big pick of Grant as the first thing when people enter the site? That close after race day. So f*cking stupid. Ok, if you had some race pic with the line race report. But a pic of the winner that just pops up. I guess alot ppl haven’t watched it yet. Especially those outside US.

  • Anonymous Says:

wow i cant believe he got away with that…

  • murph783 Says:

The portion of the track that J-law cut didn’t look that big to me, I thought it was just one turn. I think the punishment they gave out was fair, if that’s all he missed, at least.

  • Anonymous Says:

Windham was trying to sneak by on a side he shouldn’t have. It was his fault he got taken out.

  • Anonymous Says:

J-law is the man, dungey will blow this one too..

  • DNB223 Says:

leave j-law alone, hes good for the sport believe it or not, im personally sick of all the good guys of the sport who just tell everyone what they want to hear…even if their bike sucked ass they tell you it was the best it could be.j-law just tells it how it is, he needs to recruit tyler evans onto his team!!

  • yan Jolin Says:

Stewart, you need a EFI bike….easier to restart !!!!!

  • Anonymous Says:

I didn’t think it showed any respect when she tried to interview him. He was obviously upset, so just leave him alone.

  • Heelcrusher Says:

First of all, if you there you would have seen Reed hitting Stewart and Sterwart hitting the groung so hard, it took him a while to get up. He was definitily woozy and you could tell when he stood up. He wasn’t quite sure what had just happened and when he was trying to get going again, ( in the whoops might I add )he didn’t get his balance, didn’t see who was coming, and got smacked again when Windham hit him. So if you want Windham to smack somebody, how bout that punk ass, make up any excuse to win Reed. ( “Oh I think Stewart hit neutral.” ) BS Whatever, he’s such a punk ass.

  • KMC284 Says:

The accident between stewart and reed was the equivalent 2 nascars going down a staight at 180mph following eachother closely and the guy in front (purposely or accidentally) taps his brakes. They wreck and thats what happened, stewart stuttered and reed, following closely at race speed didnt see it coming and they made contact. I think Stewart knows it was all on him. And damn did reed do some practicing, he is hauling the mail. J-low sucks

  • Grinson Says:

Ferry with 661 boots? wasnt he supposably gonna be using those butt ugly Scott Genius boots?

I still havent seen the race :( .. i live in South America.

  • migs Says:

I hate coming here sometimes. You guys talk so much shit.

    A) Windham being pissed at Stewart: Stewart was dazed and confused. He just got done getting ejected onto his head. He sat there for a good 15 seconds before he even got up. He was trying to get off of the track. Windham was trying to sneak passed him. It was both of their faults and I know Windham is enough of a veteran to understand this. Stewart should have bitch slapped Erin Bates. She didn’t even ask him if he was OK. I loved his come back though. Erin: “What happened out there James?” James: “Crashed.”. I have never liked James Stewart but I think he’s a great rider and the way he handled himself was very professional.

    B) Lawrence cutting the track: If you look at Lawrences time, he actually lost time that lap between getting bucked off the track and sliding down the side of the jump to the following track. All he missed was half a jump and a corner. AMA rules states you have to come back onto the track on a safely manner, and not gain any positions. Where he was at it was impossible for it to be safe. Also he didn’t gain any positions. They docked him a few seconds. Hence his 1 position docking. I don’t like Lawrence, but I don’t think I could have done it any better. I’m sure a lot of you couldn’t either. He would have had to go up a side of done a 180 and gone up the side of a jump to get back on. BTW I’m NOT a J-Law fan. I think he’s a jerk and a smart ass. The thing that bothers me the most about him is treating this experience like a playground. However, I think he’s a great rider and he’ll definitely be around for the points hunt.

I think racing experience should be a requirement before posting on these boards. A lot of you just love talking smack without actually experiencing what it’s like first hand.

  • migs Says:

If you were paying attention, Stewart hit neutral. It happens. Reed should have been following rule #1 in racing “Don’t follow the same line”. If he was in another line he would have gone right by Stewart. It was just as much Reeds’ fault as it was James’.

  • Stephen Says:

Man J-law is a joke, He’s a disgrace to ama. He talks crap and sucks worse than heath ledger on dick!!! He suck so bad he has to cut the track what kind of a champion is that. James stewart should definetly switch to an EFI get off yamaha man. Go to kawi or honda man.

  • Stee-J Says:

I thnk Stewart was very classy when she tried to interview him. He didn’t go all Villopoto and start cussing(last sx season when Canard took him out) he made an obvious remark with an attitude but then came back to say it was nobody’s fault. I think the old Stewart wouldn’ve blamed Reed.

That was the best race ive seen in a while. Im stoked that josh grant got his first win. reedy and stewart great battle on the opening laps wish it would have gone the whole race. As for the lites class who knows what is going to happen this year.
    P.S. J-law is a douchebag

  • Anonymous Says:

j.law is quicker than u , u fucking knob , so pipe down , and why should stewart go efi ,grant was on a yam , do u think he should get an efi aswell, prick!!!!

  • obrianmcc Says:

J-laws a joke!…..look at the tape…he didn’t even glance back at the track to detemine if it was prudent to re-enter…..he made a hard left and continued as if it never happened. He should have been DQ’d…..period!

  • Anonymous Says:

Stephen, you’re an idiot. Im embarassed to have the same name as you. The whole EFI bullshit…Windham didn’t exactly get his EFI bike started soo much easier, he was right there beside stewart kickin’ it too. Im not taking stewarts side in this im just saying that schmucks like you should never have the “freedom of speech” right. And the heath ledger comment?

  • A Says:

Do you even know anything about the sport motocross? Or are you just that “cool” retarded kid on the street who rides an old 80cc and uses bad language. Wash your mouth.

Maybe JLaw can be a bit rude and all that. What’s wrong with that? Everyone is different and it depends on how they grow up etc. Not all racers can be like (that sweet little angel boy) Ryan Dungey.

  • murph783 Says:

He didn’t pass anyone, and like migs said, he lost time doing what he did. For him to turn around, cut the track again, to get back to where he was, and complete the one turn he missed would have been more unsafe than what he chose to do.

  • mx1 Says:

jlaw sucks dungey was the fastest of them all he almost caught the pro circuit guys if he get s a good start its over

  • katc Says:

Jason Lawrence rode with patience? He cut the track and retained 5th? Thought that was a huge AMA no-no and should have put him back to the highteenth place.

  • aaron Says:

dungey was not the fastest of them! j-law was. nothin shuld have happend to jlaw it wasnt safe to turn around were he was so he kept goin…. u will see at phinx how fast he is if he doesnt go down then we will see who the fastest is…..i hope j-law takes out dungey i hate dungey he is a pussy tht tlks shit and cant back it up

  • JG Says:

I hope J-law upsets all of those lites riders. For one, he’s not a “factory” rider, and two, NOBODY thinks he can do it. I want so bad for him to show all of you haters wrong!!! GO j-LAW

  • ian Says:

he got taken out by j law and he got back up waited for j law to come back around and was infron of him for like 12 laps

  • Hoobastench Says:

Mr. Lawrence is rotten for the sport and Im kind of getting tired of him getting so much credit for making the sport bigger. Its definitely turning some people off to the sport…

  • JG Says:

    THANK YOU!!!!

  • Hoobastench Says:

Jason is to factory… his team is a privateer team but all the stuff on his bike is only available to factory riders… so get bent… he maybe fast but he is a punk and doesnt deserve squat…

  • JG Says:

c’mon phoenix, hopefully no first corner crash will answer alot of our questions… (or hitting neutral in the whoops, or whatever happen)

  • ian Says:

RACERX221 YOUR A CLOWN SHOW he had the fastest lap time overall he overcleard the step on step of and made a mistake who cares they docked him a position so dont speak unless you know what your talking about

  • Joe 255 Says:

Like Migs said you guys can sit here and talk shit till your blue in the face but we all know this is racing and who is better then who is decided on the track. Last night was a great turn of events. Stewart now has to gain points back. Reed needs to stay consistent. RV needs to show that he has the speed. Dungey needs to prove that he can take J-Laws head games. And Lawrence needs to prove that he is not just “talking shit” and can acutally blow Dungey away in a clean race. You all need to get a life with blaming one rider for causing the other riders down fall and he is faster then him. Let the season ride out, give props to these guys because they are not only faster then all of us but they go out there to put on a show for us and make a living. If your talk someone down then you better be able to put your money where your mouth is and show whoever your shit talking that your better then them.

  • Twig323 Says:

J-law shouldn’t be docked anything i dont think he gained a position after that correct me if im wrong but if he did then maybe doc him a postion but it was safe he way he did it and most of you are bitching at him just because you can not because of what he did on the track. If he was to pick up groceries off the ground for an 80yr old that dropped them youd still find something to bitch about.

  • njvw Says:

Katc and mx1 go get your mouths stitched closed! I’m not a J-law fan but he didn’t do anything wrong, didn’t gain a position or any time with his track cut, and was almost 2 seconds faster than dungey.
As for Dungey shame on you! I can’t believe I thought you were a good guy! Grow up baby!!!!! So what j-Law has the same gear, so what he teases you (I mean come on! look in the mirror it’s impossible not to!), just let the ridden speak for itself (Which you need to work on!)
“I’m the fastest guy out there, I worked the hardest, I deserve a win more than anyone else!” Are you kidden me? There’s always someone working harder than you and deserves it more and lawerance was faster, except in you dream world!
I can’t believe how arrogant dungey is! I can’t believe you call yourself a Christian! Have you ever been to the east coast? Lawerance isn’t half as bad as most people will smack talk you in the east coast! You wouldn’t last an hour over there!
J-law is fine for now, justs needs to wait after the race to talk crap! Dungey needs to grow up, the little brat!

  • onthepipe719 Says:

J-law is a complete dumbass… I think that he is a great rider dont get me wrong but he didnt even think about takin one glance to c if re-enterin where he should have was safe or not, just IMMEDIATLEY CUT the track gainin 4-5 seconds and overall a position. I dont really care 4 dungey either tho. GO Weimer as soon as I saw him on ME/PC/kawi I knew he was the man 4 the west championship. go canard to sux u had an extreme douchebag takin u 2 the ground. And how badass for Josh Grant he deserves it… yes he got a lil luck on his side but he piped it out the whole race often gettin faster as time went on… braaaaap
Stewart has his work cut out for him now that he went down he shouldnt have been fuckin around with reeds head tho n just grabbed the gas nn smoked his ass… we all no he was fuckin with reed… what was it 2 sec. he gained on reed in 1 corner!

  • onthepipe719 Says:

njvw… how the hell do u figure j-law didnt gain ne time… if he would’ve re-entered where he was SUPPOSED to he would’ve been another 4-5 seconds at least behind dumbass

  • Anonymous Says:

he tells it like it is.. and you wonder why he dosn’t have a factory ride. you obviusly dont understand how the system works. if someone offered you a free bike and virtually unlimited support, you’d shut your big arrogant punk mouth and say what they want too.

  • Jeremy Says:

To everyone saying j-law should have been sent to the back, he didnt actually break any rules! Yes he cut the track but he didnt gain any positons which is totally legal. I think penalizing him any at all is unfair on the AMA’s part.

  • njvw Says:

onthepipe719 you must be illiterate and blind! He didn’t gain a position from that amazing save and his lap time dropped 4 seconds on that lap! Canard fell on top of J-law in that turn and fell again four laps later! J-law and grant were the fastest riders in their classes that night, the difference is lawerance did it consistantly. So onthepipe719 get yourself some glasses, tivo, and a tutor! :P

  • shiffity five Says:

Why is Ryan Villopoto 6th in points if he got 5th in the race?
Is that a free bike or somthing??lol

Thanks for the great work transworld!!!

  • Jeremy Says:

J-law gets 0 support from yamaha so every part on his bike can be gotten over the counter. His bike has not one factory part on it. And as i said before, it doesnt matter if he gained 20 seconds by cutting the track, he didnt break a rule. If i was guessing, the ama will re-write the rule first thing monday. J-law is the first rider smart enough to take advantage of the current rule.

  • dgizzy Says:

HEY GUYS LAST NIGHT SHOW DID NOT SHOWCASE MUCH. FIRST OF ALL I THINK J-LAW WAS FAST BUT DUNGEY WAS CLOSING IN. ALSO DR TREY WENT DOWN SO ITS HARD TO CALL WHO WOULDA WON IF EVERYBODY STAYED UP. JAKE WEIMER IS ALSO FAST. REARDON AND BRAYTON SURPRISED ME. THEY COULD BE A THREAT.

NOW FOR SUPERCROSS BOTH JS AND CHAD WERE FAST BUT CHAD TOOK JS OUT. WE HAVE SEEN THAT BEFORE IN 2006 ST LOUIS SX. I THINK CHAD WAS SURPRISED TO SEE JS PASS HIM AND HE HAD TO TAKE HIM DOWN. IF YOU WATCH THE VIDEO AFTER TALKIN TO ERIN BATES U COULD READ JS MOUTH WHEN HE GOT TO HIS DAD. HE SAID” HE HIT ME’ THEN “MOTHA****”. SO I KNOW JAMES IS TAKIN THIS PERSONAL. AS FOR WINDHAM HE SHOULD SMACK CHAD FOR CAUSIN THE FRACUS. JS WAS OBVIOUSLY DAZED AND WAS GETTIN OFF THE TRACK AS HE SHOULD. I DONT THINK THERE IS BAD BLOOD BTW js AND WINDHAM. I WANTED JOSH TO WIN SO BAD. IT WAS COOL JOSH CAN SAY HE BEAT VILLOPOTO STR8 UP.
BUBBA STILL HAS A SHOT AT WINNING THE CHAMPIONSHIP. WE WILL SEE HOW IT PLAYS OUT.

  • onthepipe719 Says:

njvw… yes ur right, he didnt immedieately gain a position. but, by gaining 4-5 seconds by skipping a corner, while in 6th place mind u… he prolly wouldnt have made his way up to 4th(5th after punishment) without those seconds he GAINED by skipping the corner without even attempting to re-enter where he left u dumbass

  • Jeremy Says:

Finally someone who knows something. I almost lost my faith in human intelligence. By the way, who saw the kid holdin up the sign that said “AWSOME” or “BUBA”?!?!?! Don’t they teach spelling un grade schools anymore?

  • walrus Says:

How much free pot does J-Law give Transworld for writing stuff like this? Honest question.
“West Coast Supercross champion Jason Lawrence rode with patience of a true champion, taking his time as he moved his way through the field”

  • krace Says:

bubba missed the shift if you look at the video in live and slow it down you see him hit his front handlebars therefore he missed a shift or lost power, reed was already driving into the whoops so he couldn’t turn

and as for the windham, look at the flagger in front of reed he pushes windham to that side of the track, and after he enters the whoops there is no way he can turn so he had no choice but to try and sneak by

  • 2strokelova Says:

congradulation to Grant, I’m verry happy for him! Great pics guys!

  • onthepipe719 Says:

also njvw dumbass… I have DVR and as I type this I watch j-law up the inside… indeed taking himself and canard out… I think u need the tutor u blind ass retard

  • Scrappy Says:

I just wanted to say I give Grant big props for keeping cool on those last laps with the banner on his wheel. He kept it together, and rode the bike as well as he could. I thought for sure Short was going to pass him as soon as I saw the banner get wrapped up and lock up his rear wheel off one of the singles. He rode through it, with smoke pouring off the back of his bike!!

  • njvw Says:

onthepipe719 like I said before, and for the last time, you obviously can’t read. j-law was doing 1:02 lap times constitantly. On that lap because of his incident his lap was almost 1:07. End of discussion!!!!!!! I would have to agree with walrus though. Lawerance rode like a man possessed!

  • dekem101 Says:

man he was cutting to inside to try to pass him in the whoops and stewart, not sure what happened looks like hit false neutral or whatever and cut into reeds line, is reed suposed to stop??? i dont think so

  • JG Says:

Well u know hooba-stink, if he’s a punk and doens’t deserve squat then tell me how he won a championship!!! Anybody that can win a championship deserves it. If your so good, better than him lets see you go out and do that. Yeah he might have a different view on things, but so what. Apparently you do too, and he’s not fatcory, like Jeremy said, you can build a replica j-law bike from the parts catalog. Let me know when you grow the balls to go race him, i’ll root for you.

  • Cr125rider Says:

ha and he needs to learn how to move his jaw up and down when he talks not side to side

  • jaspony Says:

Wow just wow. I must have watched the CR JS crash 10 times. and stewart scewed up. CR tried to go down the inside of JS, but JS missed a shift or something and slowed way down and that caused him to cut back inside instead of continuing on the outside. CR had no where to go. CR looked great and cant wait for my hometown race next weekend.

  • Anonymous Says:

You squids saying bubba hit neutral are lame do you really think he was in 1st gear???? It was a problem from his heat race look at his facial expressions when he said they need to do more work it was bog hesitation non EFI dipshits! JLAW is a drunk stoner that is good for the sport yea ok weak statment champ!

  • njvw Says:

I just went on my tivo and looked at the footage again onthepipe719. Lawerance was avoid hitting weimer then was finishing the turn candard turned left to the better line and hit lawerence’s rear wheel! Now go take you pills and go school like a good 5 year old!! :P

  • JG Says:

I think this goes for alot of us in here, all these ppl that are talking crap, get on your bike and qualify for a race, when you beat any of these guys then you can run your c@ck suckers all over the internet, until then, let them do their thing giving us all this good quality entertainment. Another reason this kinda stuff gets to me is because alot of ppl hate J-law, and his main competition is RD, well dungey is the fav apparently, and he has all the resources to win, by far. So if the kid has the skill to “build” his own race team, acquire sponsors, and go out and school everyone, then he deserves the #1 plate again.

  • njvw Says:

Idk about stewart man. I think reed came out of that corner faster than stewart and stewart’s bike swapped in the woops, hitting reeds, just a freak accident. Doesn’t really matter. Can’t wait for next week!

  • dog Says:

i agree with heelcrusher the only way any body will bea bubba is to knock him down, and tats what reed did, desparate move because he knew he was beat. Bubba hit head first knocked him him a little silly that why he hit windam. blame the dumbassses they got flagging there job is to direct traffic not let windam slip by, james was trying to get out of the way. im not the biggest bubba fan but this is america, this is our sport and id rather see an american win over an aussie any day.. especilly reed who crys all the time, always has an ecuse about something, wears the retardest gear along with poka dotted villopoto, i swear i think im watching golf sometimes. get rid of the stupid fireworks all all the pre race crap that anybody that races could care less about. and lets just race. i call it ciruscross, i hade to sit there through an hour worth of garbage to wath a 20 minute race. tankgod for motocross because circuscross has becoe one of the retardedest side shows out there. And this is how there going to hopefully become as big as nascar someday. give me a break.

  • richard knoggin Says:

What was wth factory honda’s bikes…. they sounde like shit!!! It sounded like they threw a tin can on the back and called it an exhaust. honestly, i dont know if there just using a new material and trying to save weight, but they just souded so hallow and crapy… not like a 450 much less a factory team. And how about Adams, what a bumber! i was rooting for him even if he just made the night show it would have been sick. I watched the whole thing he didnt even crash… just came up really short one of the triples. no dew tour for him. get better soon bud!

  • n*gga Says:

What does it matter if he would last in a city in the east coast? I personally hate people from the east coast because they are extremely rude and arrogant.

  • n*gga Says:

Amen to that, media bias, watch now this post will get deleted, I am almost embarrassed to have a subscription with Transworld.

  • azrider00 Says:

anyone who says reed took stewart out is an idiot, thats racing..stuff happens

  • JG Says:

Nice, I hope ledgers ghost shits in your mouth one night! Why is J-law a joke? Because he started his own team w/ his own $$$ ??? and, on top of that he is faster than dungey with all the support that he gets!!! i.e., FACTORY suzuki, decoster, carmichael, reed as coaches. Everybody talks crap, the only thing is if they can back it up. After what I seen last night, a crash in the first turn and he comes back to 4th, thats backing it up. Not to bash RD, but I hope that J law wins it this year, that way he can prove that its skill and determination, regardless of what you ride and whats in the trailer.

  • RacerX221 Says:

He may get “zero” support from yamaha but christ, look at his sponsors Monster, AM PM, Boost Mobile and he’s gettin a One Industries deal… He has a full team and a huge semi like the rest of them. That kids bike is just like a factory bike with the cash he’s brinin in…

  • n*gga Says:

Agreed, J-LAW is a stoner and a drunk dumbass, does anyone remember Freestone? He is a horrible example of the riders in this sport.

  • n*gga Says:

    Thank you.

  • n*gga Says:

I think he needs to learn to move away from the alcohol and marijuana and not think that anyone who doesn’t like him for his idiotic actions is a “hater.”

  • jason Says:

I loved the sound of the Honda’s. They were so crisp.

  • RacerX221 Says:

He just wanted to cetch dungey and dropkick him…

  • Anonymous Says:

Haha. J-low sucks. Good one. I agree.

  • evan Says:

everyone is bitching about j-law cutting the track, who cares i can c if he won. And his team and bike is sick… Jason is the man. yea he talks shit but he can back it up and the only reason he lost is bc he fuck up but he will win the title. And Ryan Dungey is a bitch.

  • the LAW09 Says:

i think lawrence capitalized on dungeys mistakes fisrt off he lost his sooo called big gear deal to lawrence which was dungeys mistake and 2nd off lawrence did the right thing and followed the AMA!!!! rules for what happends when u cant re enter the track. The AMA messed up and docked him he did nothing wrong besides ride his ass off to show he is the next champion.

  • Anonymous Says:

Stewart wasnt being classy but was not being a ass he was mad ive would done the same but one thing he did do if you watched after the interview with him he sass mouthed his dad i thought by the look on stewarts dad fce he was going to cuff him upside the head

  • dog Says:

as for j-law how many riders out there are popular because they didnt give a crap about what anybody thinks of them, least of all there competition. bradshaw would knock your ass down and come back around to run over you, rick johnson would knock you down, ron lechien, bob hannah hated everybody. staton would train his ass off and get beat by jmb who sat around eating kitkats all day i could go on and on, j-law adds a little contreversy and excitement to the race. supercross is laking that and has become damn boring. dont go out there and intentoinally take someone out but we need some rivals. enough with that were ll good oll boys and good friends. come on johnson was the bad boy, bradshaw was the beast from the east, they wanted to win and you could see it second was never enough. ryan hughs and doug henry would swing at each other. jame did tell his his dad reed hit him and that mothe***** you could read his lips. But know its on and i cant wait till next saturday.

  • f*ck n*gga Says:

your a pansy, just like dungey

  • Anonymous Says:

    lol lol lol omg lol

  • Anonymous Says:

although jlaw may not be on a full factory team like dungey he is still on a factory support team from yamaha the and received the same help has james stewart and josh grant who are also on factory support teams

  • Anonymous Says:

dungey did loose his gear deal, he left it because they signed jason lawrence, and he hates jason lawrence so he was pissed that they signed him… and what do u meen he did nothing wrong, if cutting the track wasnt wrong why doesnt anyone else do it.

  • Cr125rider Says:

just like Dungey? ok Dungey can at least handle things like a professional would. The whole way that Lawrence goes about himself is “not professional” as in what Dungey said in his pre race interview. Lawrence needs to grow up his attitude is not gonna cut it in AMA. and i am no way a fan of Dungey I just agree with him. GO MILLSAPS!

  • BlackFox Says:

I was there at the race and I believe that Reed did that shit on purpose because he knew it was going to be the same old story. Stewart was going to pass him and he knew he wasn’t going to be able to keep up. Reed is a 3rd place finisher. The only time he wins is when Ricky and bubby are out of the race. As windham, this is the second time he has hit stewart under simular circumstances. Can’t say he did it on purpose, but it’s something to think about. Well see if bitch ass Reed can hold on in Frisco. I was exspecting more from Ryan V.

  • Anonymous Says:

jason lawrence a faggot ass bitch

  • Anonymous Says:

Jason lawrence a faggot ass bitch.

  • Anonymous Says:

r u fucking serious he cut the track which shortened his lap time by atleast 2 or 3 seconds which is alot in supercross, thats why they penalized him

  • Anonymous Says:

chris blose shure did look good last night… alot better than past years

  • Bill Says:

The ruling should be overturned becuase cutting the track may not have improved JLo’s postion but it certainly moved him further ahead of riders trying to catch him. If AMA says OK then cutting the track will be the new tactic to ensure a rider doesn’t lose his positon to other riders. This was a big mistake on the part of the AMA. Its not just to protect the lead riders but to protect the riders who stand to lose ground on riders they are trying to catch.

  • h0lesh0t Says:

james stewart looks like a black smurf. Jay law is the man!! QUESTION AUTHORITY!

  • h0lesh0t Says:

you’re right. didn’t realize that. but he still should concentrate on the freestyle thing. the fender slap is SICK

  • TheRealDC Says:

Why do you all care so much, Dungey still came out on top of Lawrence. Plus its racing you don’t always have the luxury to look and make sure, YOU JUST PINN IT. Its facking racing for gods sake and it was a damn good one. As for J-Law, he isn’t my most preferred rider but he cannot be a joke considering he won his heat and got 5th with all the crap that went down. Jesus you guys can sure be pricks.

  • skooli808 Says:

As per the AMA Rulebook: “A rider may be penalized after leaving the track during competition, if the rider fails to re-enter at a point as close to practical as the point at which the rider left the track, and in doing so claims an unfair advantage.” I just replayed the incident several times on my DVR and he did not even look to see if it was safe to enter where he left (it was safe btw, which is why the AMA docked him a position). He shook his head and rode away. Consequently, the time it would have taken for him to re-enter legally would have given Justin Brayton time to pass him. So his cutting track did gain him the unfair advantage of not having to suffer his MISTAKE. Like him or not, he’s a dirty rider, and Transworld should be ashamed of themselves for omitting this incident from their report.

  • evan Says:

yo shut up who cares, last night was some damn good racing.
    jlaw will own!!!!!

  • DNB223 Says:

LOOKS LIKE HES DOING JUST FINE TO ME

  • JG Says:

Just pinn it?!??!!?! Are you serious??? Do you even own a motorcycle? Do you know to ride it? Racing is an art of patience, timing, among other things. Chodes like you that live by “oh, just pinn it” are stupid. You know, trey posted one of the fasted laps last night, but where did he finish? Way back, its not about who is the fastest u idiot….

  • dog Says:

right on blackfox reed won win rc was gone and reed won when js was gone thats what was so dissappointing because if reed goes on for the title it will because of js not being able to finish. think reed could take a nantional mx title, not in his wildest dreams. and thats true hardcore racing, if you cant ride outdoors why even consider yourself a motocross rider, thats were it all began.

  • Hoobastench Says:

First of all…. Lawrence said in prerace interviews he didnt have to do alot of testing because he is running the almost the same bike he did last year. Which has alot of FACTORY Yamaha parts on it, that you and I cant buy! Why wouldnt I have the balls to race him? I would anytime. If he could beat me in a race, without track cutting, what would that prove? Im nobody, doesnt mean I dont know shit when I smell it. Villopoto made him his girl and the AMA is about there. People saying he is good for the sport makes me sick. I will now try to turn everyone I can away from this sport just because there are a$$holes like him that race, and jungle bunnies like you that think he is cool!

  • h0lesh0t Says:

that james stewart is smurf? I know, i was kinda shocked too.

  • Chris Says:

So J-Law isn’t the West Coast Champion? And he didn’t make his way through the pack? And he doesn’t have a relaxed style? Bias? Your opinion; you’re entitled to it. As are we.

  • Anonymous Says:

The blame is all Stewart. From all the camera angles Reed was on the inside and James on the outside coming out of the turn!! Stewart actually cut back acrossthe track in front on Reed. If he would have eld his line there would not have been a crash no matter if he missd a shift or what ever the fact remains he crossed over in front a a charing Reed. James KNEW it was his fault s it would have been stupid for him to rail on Reed for that crash on TV.

  • rkc3c Says:

    i herd that

a little bit of excitement right?
a lot of hype, a lot of drama.
how many comments would there be if there was no lawrence?
sure ass hell wouldnt be this many.
    you know what that means?
not as many people on this site making transworld money, not as many people actually at the race or watching on tv.
and all that is what makes the sport grow.
its stupid you guys saying j law is bad for the sport.
people who say that are ignorant and too stupid to take a look at these situations from more than just one angle.

  • Anonymous Says:

i was at the races an i personally dont like dungey or jlaw one butt dungey crys about everything jlaw dont shut up. nut when he cut the track he gained alot of time so he should be docked somthing plus canard was a lap down an jlaw had nothin for him that was sick

  • rkc3c Says:

    ryan is a girlie man.

  • TsmithMX Says:

jaspony your right, thats exactly what happened

  • TheRealDC Says:

Listen I know you must caredully pick when and wher you make your moves but there will come time when you don’t know and you must throw yourself into that void. Take for example last national season when james tried to double that huge roller section and came up way short… or following a trophy truck through a silt bed, sometimes you just don’t know what to expect. You don’t gotta be so hostile fadge.

  • skooli808 Says:

Lawrence is good for the sport the way the Mulisha is good for the sport. It brings a bunch of posers to the sport who dress in mx company clothes and talk about the sport like they are riders when they are nothing more than a bunch of punk kids who play video games and start posts off with “Yo”. If more kooks is good than J-law is money in the bank.

  • JG Says:

I apologize, but I’m just sick of all of the wanna b’s and ppl that don’t know wtf they are talking about. I bet over half of these peeps have never even rode on a REAL mx track. So they have no clue and it just gets to me. From your comment above all I seen was pinn it and I just went into defense mode. Sorry again for dissin you.

  • Anonymous Says:

Posers are good for our sport? Are you kidding? Maybe just the 30 bucks they pay for a ticket. Other than that posers show people outside of the industry that they are a bunch of immature douschers which reflects poorly upon the true racer.

Also, why does j-Law talk so much crap? He is a short punk that would get his head knocked off by most guys at the track. Fast kid but needs to learn that he will be better remembered if he acts classy. We already had a Bob Hannah.

  • Anonymous Says:

j law mite go better if he rode a good bike not shitty old yamaha and dungey is the man

  • jlawblows Says:

Jlaw. Shut the fuck up before i have my 3 year old brother kick your ass. your a pussy

  • tybutter Says:

I watched Reed hit Stewart and it did not look like #7 missed a gear thats B.S. He came out of the corner first and took Reeds line. Reed has had it in for Stewart since there rookie season, he hates to be interviewed and have the interview be about bubba(you will notice it on every interview Reed has done). Stewart showed pretty good sportsmanship by not going off about how Reed took him out when he was questioned. Reed can only when a championship when #7 is out(whata cry baby).

  • Anonymous Says:

You must be the biggest pack of dip shits, if you think that Reed took out Stewart. Watch the video you fools. James misses a shift or hits a false neutral and moves straight into Reeds line. Reed was to close? What the fuck are you clowns talking about. Obviously 99% of you posers have never raced. Get a clue you dicks. Those clowns who think James mouthed the words about Reed “the mother fucker hit me” How the hell do you know he wasnt talking about KW… What a pack of losers

  • Jeff859Kriz Says:

im a huge fan of stewart and i dont really like reed but you can clearly see that reed didnt to that shit on purpuse… i never really liked grant but that was some good riding after he got that tough block wrapper in his brake… jake weimers crash right after the win was pretty funny when he was celebrating with a wheelie lol

  • dog Says:

anonymous you need to get your nose out of reeds ass. ive been racing since 1979, started in bmx, turned pro and then went to motocross. ive watched bob hannah at lake whitney when they held a national there, you did know they have held a natioal there right dipshit, my brothers raced in the 70s at tracks youve probally never even heard of. most supercross fans today are girls age 16 and below, a bunch of 5 and 10 year olds that just think its cool and a bucnh of moms that are sitting next to husbands watching the riders not the race, half of them dont know what a spark plug is let alone race, the other half is a bunch of drunks wating to hit somebody after stumbling out of the stadium. aka your classic dwi tradagdy. I quit going after bradshaw retired he changed the face of supercross, and blowtime was to much of a nice guy. reed is a punk, hes a sore loser, his front brake dont work his rear brake dont work, its always something unless he wins and the douch only wins wins when he has no competition. as ive said before if you cant win or dont want to race outdoors you not a racer. id would love to see reed surrounded by bradshaw, matasavich, johnson, lechien, hannnah im sure he would crap his self and run home.

  • Toro Says:

K-Dub should have slapped some sense into Bubba maybe he would learn to look before he acts and takes out the rider behind him. Preston should have done this also. Bubba is guilty of NEVER looking for riders behind him when he crashes. Kevin would have had a whole different season start if it were not for Bubba butthead.

  • scott Says:

Did you notice Windams bike wouldnt start either, wierd. But no doubt it is cronic waste of time and exhausting.

  • the doog Says:

tybutter wrote: “Stewart showed pretty good sportsmanship by not going off about how Reed took him out when he was questioned.”—hat’s because he knew it was HIS FAULT. He PLAINLY missed a shift.
I DVR’d the race, and watched the crash over and over and over again. James’ body position tells the story–coming out of that corner, he all of a sudden leans waay over the front of the bike–because he expected the throttle to pull him BACKWARD as he accelerated–but he plainly missed the shift; that’s why he overcompensates by leaning OVER the front handlebars–he didn’t expect that loss of acceleration.
It’s a dumb, embarrassing mistake–one I’ve made myself. You DON’T want to admit to it–but Bubba DID say “It was nobody’s fault; that’s racing” something like that–because he KNEW it was HIS fault.

  • motojoel Says:

What kind of an idiotic question did she ask him though. She is in no way qualified for her job. She should have asked WHY he crashed, i.e. “James, did you miss a shift, hit neutral, what happened?”
She needs to review old tapes of Davey Coombs.

  • p-rad Says:

Its all good man, some of these comments can really get to you, they’re so mean. Sorry for the fadge. I gotta get back out to Cali, the tracks in Az aren’t the best.

  • SoCalRaceReady Says:

We were there, sitting in a suite with a damn good view of all the carnage. I foolishly tought Reed rammed Stewart as well until I watched it on TiVo. No matter what happened at A1 it was ALL GOOD for the fans. The top 2 guys in the 450 class AND 250 class failed to win…that makes for a great start on the season for us fans. Just like Emig said, the air at Anaheim 1 is alwasys electric and Saturday was X-Tra electric (if that makes sense) lol.

  • moto2020 Says:

That was the best Supercross race I have seen in a while. I still can’t believe the banner in Grants rear wheel. It is going to be a great year for Supercross.

  • SoCalRaceReady Says:

We were there partying GPKings style in a suite at A1. Watching it there we all thought Reed took him out as well. We also completely missed Lawrence cutting the track, all though I got a real clear view of the bottom of a tequila shot several times. Seriously though, watching the race on TV made some clear revelations. Stewart made a mistake and Reed inadvertently hit him and Stewart (rightfully so) tried to push his bike off the track which caused Windham to crash. Neither of those are intentional and no really anyone’s fault. The take away here is the fans have 100% benefitted from the chaos at A1. When the anticipated top two guys in BOTH the 450 and 250 classes fail to win the opener, it just makes the series all the more interesting for A1. Emig said it best, for the first time in a LONG time; I’m actually looking forward to Phoenix MORE than A1!

I want to know if kdub is all mad at james and james will come back to win this title. It was a sick ass race. PROPS FOR GRANT I THINK HE DESERVES IT!

  • Anonymous Says:

I’m really dissapointed in Lawrence and Dungey. I understand they are rivals but what they are saying on the podium is rediculous. They both have a lot of growing up to do. They both are such amazing riders and its sad to see such poor sportsmanship out there.

But I am really impressed with Stewart and Reed. Stewart may have been mad when he stormed off but he didn’t blame what happened on anyone, and Reed showed some class on the podium. I wish the lights riders would be that classy.

  • Defrow16 Says:

I thought Reed took Stewart out when I saw it live, but something happened with Stewart or his bike. It wasnt Reeds fault. (don’t get me wrong I can’t stand Reed, he’s a crybaby, champion by defaut) As for J-Law, he’s old school, I agree with Dog, this isn’t prep school, publicity is wonderful, good or bad. He has all you suckers talking about him. What you all are missing is that Weimer spanked everyone. Finally, Props to Grant.

  • Defrow16 Says:

Great Race, Great to see fresh faces on the podium. To all of you keyboard racers, buy a bike, Race, & then come back an post comments. When you race MX, shit happens, no one took anyone out intentionally( personally think Reed is a crybaby & won his championship by default, one when Carmichael got injured, one when JS got injured, let’s see if he can win by beating the best). As far as the track cutting, he got docked a position, that was just! Now get of your keyboards and go ride your bike.

  • Matt 126 Says:

Interviews are part of the industry, and allthough Bubba was upset, he has an “obligation” to act professional and answer appropriate questions.

  • Anonymous Says:

Did you happen to watch the race? I’m pretty sure Dungey capitalized on Lawrence.

  • Anonymous Says:

How do you figure Grant deserves it? He got lucky because the three riders that would have made podium (actually possibly 4 if you count Villipoto) all crashed pretty bad.

  • skooli808 Says:

    Sarcasm homie.

  • flatbilltatoochainwalletdickies Says:

Do you even ride? And by riding I don’t mean buying a clapped out 95 YZ 125 with black plastics and showing up to your local track once a year to try to session the smallest jump over and over and over then talking smack at school about how you’re not really into racing because freestyle is more OG. You’re commenting on a supercross race with comments about freestylers. Go back to the playground junior.
