The weather mercifully pushed the rain away from Anaheim when evening finally arrived. For two days, the rain drowned the track in Angel Stadium. And though the track had been covered since it was completed on Thursday, the rain still infiltrated the dirt in sections to make the track quite interesting. Dry and dusty in some parts, and soupy in others, the Jeremy McGrath-designed track offered up a ton of technical rhythm sections and gnarly cupped-out whoops.
Since the tarps were left on the track until close to four o’clock, the riders only got once chance to dial in some lines. They were allowed only an abbreviated single qualifying practice, and it was clear afterward that the riders could have used a lot more track time to find lines.

LITES QUALIFYING
Chris Blose jumped out front in the first moto of the night. He kept his Seaspan/TLD/Honda out front for a few laps, but he spun out in the mud just before the triple, allowing Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey to get by. Gecio Powersports Honda’s Dan Reardon, meanwhile, settled into third, and stayed there throughout the moto. Dungey took the win with Blose and Reardon rounding out the top three.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer grabbed the second muddy holeshot of the night with Justin Brayton in tow. Cole Seely got caught up with another rider in the first turn and was forced to run the duration of the moto at back of the pack. Ryan Morais held onto third, with Trey Canard behind him in fourth. The top five were spread evenly through about a quarter of the track by the time three laps were in the books. Morais snuck by Brayton at the end of the long rhythm section before one of the muddiest turns in on the track, to ensure that Pro Circuit went 1-2 in the heat.

Alessi screwed reed up twice in pivotal moments of the race, he just seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time every race.

  • Anonymous Says:

so RV got a bad start in the lcq and just pulled off after? wtf so he quit gave up?? if so real nice….

  • johnny Says:

yeah, that’s what i was thinking, what a baby. what about all those fans that wanna see you ride Ryan? screw ‘em? I know he must have been very frustrated, but that was a boner move.

  • Chris Says:

No, I don’t think that was the case. He wrecked super hard in the heat. We are waiting to hear, but it could be that he wasn’t able to continue safely.

  • yoo Says:

ya i swore he broke his arm he went down hard

  • sweetness Says:

    he went down in the

  • sweetness Says:

he went down in the LCQ as well, after a bad start.

  • Sabrina Says:

RV crashed really hard in his heat race, and after a terrible start in the LCQ he crashed in the same spot again. He had no chance of making it into the main and was probably hurting pretty badly, so I don’t blame him for pulling out of the LCQ. The track was pretty sketchy and he seemed kind of rattled from the crash, so he probably would have ended up crashing again. Trying to finish the LCQ would have been pretty pointless and stupid since it could have resulted in a major injury. Ryan is a great rider and was having an off night, hopefully he will be back on the podium next weekend.

  • james mc Says:

keep us posted on rv please hope he is ok he is not a quiter

    Lawrense???

  • sxer Says:

vpot went off the track in the lcq and there was no chance of gaining 19 positions in 4 laps where he was at. he’s not a quitter he’s realistic

  • Steve179 Says:

    Damn Right

  • Anonymous Says:

LawrenCe got suspended for a couple races for “An attack on a Racing official and/or engaging in a fight.”

  • jack mehoff Says:

how bout milsaps getting up on the box eh? hes turned his season around

  • Anonymous Says:

Guys, he crashed really hard on the wall in the whoops and his bike hit him in the heat. Then he got a horrible start in the lcq, probably 15th. Then he crashed in the exact same spot, on the wall, in the exact same fashion, almost as hard. He didn’t give up, he probably barely knew who he mechanic was he was so hazy.

  • Anonymous Says:

stewarts new bell helmet looks like an entry level hjc p.o.s.

  • anonymous Says:

dude! your such and idiot, who cares what his helmet looks like, you will never be as fast as any of these riders let lone bubba, what a scumbag.idiot!

  • diddy Says:

that helmet makes him look like a cone head! it does look really funky! late 90’s

  • Anonymous Says:

NO.. RV crashed in the second whoop section (Same place he crashed in his heat race) and could not get he bike started. (I was there)

  • Anonymous Says:

does anyone no what happened to micheal hall? he had one of the worst crashed ive ever seen

  • Mooney38 Says:

I think chad reeds old number of 22 was much more fitting. Lots of 2’s in his career.

  • MOREMONEYTHAN38 Says:

THINK HES GOT MORE ONES THAN YOU
and i know hes better in the sac so eh
    phluck uyou

  • Grieby54 Says:

How in the world would you know something like that?

  • Anonymous Says:

na man, RV crashed in his heat… and then again in the lcq, he was sooo far back there was NO WAY he could have gotten in the top two

  • onthepipe719 Says:

all of you boners up top that dont even know how to pedal a bicycle, why dont you shut the f@#! up? You honestly think RV would just pull off and give up just because? how f@#$in stupid could you be? obviously you didnt see his terrible crash that almost ripped his head off. Oh yea you wouldn’t know about that cause there isnt any injurys when you fall off ur couch dumbass

  • Anonymous Says:

RV’s problem is the same one Tedesco had when he moved up to the 450s. He isn’t on a magical Mitch Payton bike any more. Pro Circuit bikes seem to be so much better than ANYONE elses’ year after year. Where were Weimer and Morais last year? Nowhere that mattered as far as points go. It’s crazy. Going from a Pro Circuit KX250F to a full factory 450 from any team seems like taking a step backwards.

  • Anonymous Says:

anyone whos says RV is a quiter did not see his crash. RV went down so hard I thought he broke his neck.

  • James Says:

No he wouldn’t have! Ricky never would have gone to an LCQ.

  • James Says:

I was thinking the same thing. Reed should be embarrased to sport the #1 plate. All he really needs is to get a good start though. Then maybe James wouldn’t pull off a 13 second lead. It might actually be a race.

Kind of reminds me of the McGrath and Emig days.

  • sweetness Says:

you were in the sac with reed?

  • Anonymous Says:

Can you explain exactly how Reed should be embarassed to sport the #1?? He’s a deserved champ! The only embarassment here mate is your pathetic post! Chad Reed is no quitter, and thats why he is wearing #1, AND thats why he will get back up there and make this thing a fight till vegas.

  • rockynuts Says:

i think McGrath needs to stick to what ever he’s been doing, because he sucks a@# at building tracks ive never seen so many crashes at a supercross. there were some serious get offs by some of the top riders in our sport.

  • Daniel Says:

For sure RV isn’t a quitter! Have you all forgotten the last races of 2008? From last or almost last to the podium! For sure he ad some problem!

  • Paul Says:

I agree. Ryans PC bike last yr was exceptional. KTMs being fast too but not the suspension. Honestly think JS is a punk and kind of ignorant minus his talent. I think Chad could give us great races if he could get the start. I also think Fox should be ashamed of their pro gear this year. FYI, give RV time, he’ll tear it up.

  • Paul Says:

Minus his talent, James is actually just a punk. Be GREAT races if Chad could get better starts. Agree, RV’s bike last year was the best but give’em time, he’ll get there. Also feel Fox should be ashamed of their pro gear this year..atrocious!

  • Paul Says:

Actually think JS is just a punk. Chad would at least even him if he got better starts. Also agree RVs PC bike last year was the best but in time, he’ll get it. Fox should be ashamed of their pro gear this yr..atrocious. RD should of stayed w/ One Ind.

  • Kyle G Says:

oh wa wa waa i got a bad start, lets pull off. god for bid he’d try. and reed better beat james this weekend.

  • JPMODD Says:

Wow this place is full of haters!I like chad and james stewart i think James is way faster then Chad and its even more noticable now that the yamaha is working in the whoops, any one rememeber stewart passing ricky n the whoops 2yrs ago and how about 07 SX at the rca dome when stewart came form last place and WALKED reed down and won the race!Damn how soon we forget!Reed couldnt beat ricky and he Damn sure cant beat Stewart.

  • CRrider94 Says:

no he hasnt, the results are always different in a mud race

  • CRrider94 Says:

JJC i hear you, they are on a team, alessi should be watching it for the unarguably faster rider on his team

  • james mc Says:

iv just seen vp2 crash on youtube
he was luck to get up from that
hats off the the fella for even going to the lcq i would of gone home to sleep that one off

  • i know everything Says:

allyou guys dont know anything…….dont talk on how you think james is faster than chad either way they are the two fastest riders on the planet……Chad has ran faster lap times than james all season all but one race so what is that tellin ya

  • D^2 Says:

To i know everything- Fastest lap times done mean jack if your in second and Ricky is still faster than Reed even though he isnt racing anymore. That said Reed is fast and could put up some good races if he could get out in front and lead James!
And who the heck cares what the gear or helmets look like? You dont like it then dont buy it… its that simple!

  • i know everything Says:

bottom line if chad gets a hole shot he will win the race period

  • JPMODD Says:

Chad wishes he had stewart speed!!Didnt reed get like 3rd place start last wk or the wk b4,he had a hard time getting pass his team mate and when he did he still couldnt catch stewart and lap times, thats a joke reed has a few laps that may have been faster then stew but they didnt = any wins!!and if stewart has to step up his lap times he has proven he can do that to,by the lap times mean nothing if you are winning by 3-7seconds:I like reed but he has nothing for stewart and when stewart takes the points lead Reed will start to ride dirty.chk his history.[lol]Ask RC.

  • Anonymous Says:

woooooow all you guys arent very bright about this sport, reed is garbage, with out his steroids that allow him not to get tired he would be outside the top 3…but nice try on supporting him, and oh yea he is on them iv been around for awhile in this sport several trainors are trying to get these riders on them!!

  • JPMODD Says:

Damn anonymous you are right about that IV thing,i remember reed going to the ER in detriot because of a crash and the gave him a IV and the AMA let him race but they wouldnt let JL run in the lites class a coulpe wks ago whats up with that!!

  • D^2 Says:

The reed on steroids thing wouldnt surprise me one bit acctually! But Im not here to talk shit about a rider that I guarantee nobody on here could compete with!

  • D^2 Says:

No way! Stewart would have to crash and be dead last for reed to win! That i can guarantee!
