The first set of timed practice sessions have wrapped up in Atlanta. As usual, San Manuel/Yamaha’s James Stewart sits atop the leader board with the fastest lap in the Supercross class. In the Lites class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Christophe Pourcel posted the quickest time. Be sure to check back later for more photos from the second round of practice sessions.

If any one can re-watch JS-7 and Reed at unadilla 02 when they were racing for the outdoor 125 championship,fast forward to the part where JS-7 slowed down and let Reed catch up and take the lead,and then JS-7 followed reed arond for a lap or so and then passed him back and walked away form him! CLASSIC!!2night should be good!

they should leave the sand to outdoors, keep SX super hard pack blue groove, SX suspension wants to push through corners as it is never mind sand S turns

I like the sand…it’s those step on step off’s that are worthless…and this track almost looks normal…thanks for the quick update’s…I don’t get the speed channel..

step on step offs are supercross, sand isnt really, just curiouse why are they worthless? i think it separates the talent and shows who the true technical riders are, takes alot of skill with bike control as well. supercross isnt hold it wide open all day like outdoors it takes a bit more

Whats worse? The sand sections or the Baddies that bail in them ? 90% of the guys race outdoors anyways and are more comfortable in the sand than say the hard pack… Im shocked to read the bad vibes about the sand. I would imagine the vast majority of the riders would like to see more outdoor features brought inside seeing as again, the vast majority of the riders like outdoors more.
Any who, props for the post haste updates. I get speed channel, but have a conflicting work schedule

I agree, Stoked to see how Izzi does this year! When Lutes posted that first video of him, I knew he would be a top 5 rider! Tough to beat Metcalfe and Pourcel seems like 2 years off didn’t slow him down at all

Dude I wouldn’t say that “the vast majority of riders like outdoors more” hey! With a fair few supercross only deals flying around out there, the opportunities for big money, the corporate/party atmosphere and having no heat/humidity to deal with…I would actually say that the vast majority of PROFESSIONAL riders enjoy supercross more. Can you remember how much the riders complain about the tracks outdoors??…that coupled with all the talk of “burn out” that you just don’t hear about supercross…I dunno dude. Wouldn’t you agree?

I’m curious to see how the East will do against the West this year, I think the west riders have the upper hand.

When you are a PROFFESIONAL ATHLETE, you should be able to ride in any situation. Sand, mud, ruts, pot holes, flat berms it shouldn’t matter. I like the sand. It separates the men from the boys. Whether Super cross or Motocross the track should be the most difficult as possible. I am not a pro and I love a track that is a challenge. That’s what training is for. Practice all environments.
