While it wasn’t quite as crazy a race as last year’s mudfest, this year’s Daytona Supercross presented by Honda didn’t disappoint, as interesting practice sessions led into a race highlighted by a first-turn pile up, which caused numerous riders including James Stewart to climb their way back towards the front of the pack. Add to that the fact that Jason Lawrence was absolutely flying in his first-ever 450 race, and you have one entertaining night of racing. But without giving away too much, click through the photo gallery below to get the full scoop on the grueling Daytona SX.

Due to the heat during the daytime practice sessions, much like nationals many teams broke out the fans to cool the bikes off between sessions. Here, Chad Reed’s bike takes a break.

Has anyone heard what happened to Timmy Ferry? They never mentioned what made him DNF on the telecast. I figure it was a crash but I was just wondering.

  • Anonymous Says:

  • gren385 Says:

was he wearing those goofy Scott boots?

  • gren385 Says:

J Law like him or not did the rite thing!I can only wonder what ppl would be saying if he plowed over that pile up instead of going around it.J Law saw all those guys on the ground and just pined it to run them over…

  • nelson 23 Says:

anyone know how stroupe is, he got of hard. i cant find anything about it. i dont know how he even got up from that!

  • Anonymous Says:

Yes he was wearing the scott boots. The problems with the boot was that they were fine in warm weather but were to stiff to ride with in the cold at A1. However that problem was fixed.

  • gren385 Says:

the problem is those boots just suck..hahaha
and yes i did try them some squid at the track had them and he let me take a lap in them and i mean lap cause i pulled off aft 1

  • dgizzy Says:

I wonder what the ama would do if James rode off on Hills bike? Hill would have to take Bubbas bike and track him down so they can exchange!!1lol

  • Anonymous Says:

Why cant I ever read the full text when there are more than 3 lines ….Swap I thought you said you were going to fix this months ago

  • T.D.214 Says:

Yea that was funny, Stewart trying to take Hill’s bike. He must have been so dazed he only saw a blue bike with a 7 on it. He must not have seen the 5! haha And J-law did well, no surprise although he needs to get in shape for sure. Maybe he can turn things around and grow up. He has amazing talent and could be a podium threat in the 450 class IF; he could get his head screwed on straight!

  • JG Says:

a punk? he got 2nd, he’s faster than almost everyone, and yet hes still a punk? Is it because he is successful and your a pc of crap that can’t ride, has probably never rode a mx bike, just a want-a-be and all you do is bash people? his first 450 race and he beat guys that have been racing 450’s for a LONG time… I didn’t see the race but lets say he did cut the track, what was he supposed to, drive over everybody like hill did??? Of course he is going to avoid the pile up you dumbass.

Definately the best tack and race of the supercross series. I think we all knew the Jersey kid is straight up fast on a motorcycle.

  • foxmx384 Says:

jlaw was def the fastest rider he just needs to get himself in shape, its funny how carmichael said that reed was gonna catch up to him eventually and he was right, i seriously thought he was gonna win at one point but then u could tell he was slowing down by his lap times…def one of the best races of the series and i was there! much better than last year

    hahaha

  • Domino Says:

Lawrence fut the track to get a BIG advantage… the AMA is now a joke if they dont penalize him for it and I will end my membership with them…. Lawrence has made this sport a joke… if he wouldnt have cut the track and raced hard and fair and done well he would have convinced me he was alright, on the track at least… Now every race that he is in is becoming a joke just because he is there… who gives a darn if I cant ride as fast as he… I at least brush my teeth dont have a lisp and ride and race FAIR… he didnt just avoid the pileup he saw an oppurtunity to cheat and he took it…

  • Domino Says:

lawrence is a joke… supercross sucks now that he is in it

  • Bickett_107 Says:

    thats awesome lol

  • 501yamirider Says:

If people would watch the video lawrence wait for the guys that got through to pass and waited till it was safe to enter the track, he did the right thing regardless what anyone think, this kid is fast on a big bike after all he set the fastest qualifier

  • ................ Says:

how dumb are you anonymous last week you said you hate him now you you think he is sickest? you f*ckin smart!

  • Anonymous Says:

he didnt gain no posistions other than the riders that were down. if you watch it you can see him look and wait for everybody get going.

  • Kyle G Says:

jlaw would of never got 2nd if the big crash never happen, but he’s still one fast mother efer.

  • Scott173 Says:

I think it’s kinda funny that there is a lot of people that think the AMA should jump in and start handing out penalties….for example Lawrence for cutting the first turn, Mechanics out on the track helping riders, fining Josh Hill for his sick one footer! What kind of communist people are you? Back off and let the racing tell the story, not the side judge!

  • Anonymus Says:

    nicos helmet is awsume
    Where can i by it.
Or is it just a replica that you can’t by

  • Anonymous Says:

“What are you doing later tonight….” Then she just smiled and turned around (shut-down).

  • G- Snatch Says:

Domino, your totally right dude he should have been fair and smashed right through the heap of downed riders… what a cheater. and since lawrence avoided the downed riders, i too am going to end my membership with the AMA. The AMA is gonna be sorry they let him slide when were gone!

  • G- Snatch Says:

ya good thing your gonna end your membership with AMA. That ought to show em!

  • G- Snatch Says:

    that kid is hilarious

  • Anonymous Says:

hahah, Yeah, cause the AMA gives two craps about a couple of clowns who bash J-Law…It’s too bad people like Windham don’t have the determination during race-day to win at all costs. KDub has such skill and opportunity, but doesn’t seem to always lay it all on the line.

  • Pin it to win it! Says:

YOU GUYS ARE SO NAIVE! Glenn Elay, Domino, and G-Snatch, what are you guys even thinking??? You seriously think that J-Law should have ran into the pile up rather than avoid it? You should be giving him credit, because sure, others got a bad start, but lets face it, he kept a solid lead for many of the laps of the gnarliest supercross race, and on a 450. You guys must be blind to not see that. Its too bad anyone can post their opinions on here because yours are blatant. But in my opinion, your rude opinions don’t matter. The AMA doesn’t want or need riders like you anyway.

  • Anonymous Says:

    i like izzi’s helmet too

  • pete Says:

    hahahaha

  • Premix4Life Says:

That J-Law is a good egg.

  • Glenn Eley Says:

Dear jG, if you were really a racer, you would know that you are supposed to re-enter the track where you left it, and not gain any positions. He wouldn’t have been able to hit anybody because he cut straight across the track. Pull your little flat billed ballcap up so you can see him look hesitantly like he knew. By the way Boy, former Colorado State Champions can ride, most likely faster than you! also learn how to spell dumb a$$ ; )

  • Glenn Eley Says:

I watched the race not the video poser boy

  • Glenn Eley Says:

Steve, I guess this makes you an internet trash talker too !

  • Mr Man Says Says:

    DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA!!! lol

    Go CHAD REED!

  • D23moto Says:

J Law shouldn’t have even been in the main event period. He did not pass the sound test after the final practice. Why do I know this? Because a good friend of mine who is a mechanic for a Privateer rider in the lites class witnessed the AMA conducting the sound test on Lawrence’s YZ450F and it did not pass, it wasn’t even within one or two db. But they let him go with no problem at all. This mechanic had his rider disqualified for the night show because his bike did not pass sound test either. So he made a fuss about it (and rightfully so) to the AMA officials that let Lawrence slide with no questions asked. The AMA told him to stop arguing with them and to not show up next year if he didn’t drop it. I guess the rules just don’t matter for some people. The AMA should be embarrassed. This is 100% BS. Long story short, Lawrence shouldn’t even have been in the event. Shows how much they care about the people keeping this sport alive. Hmmm lets break the rules for the biggest rule breaker out there and screw over the little guy who would have been in the night show.

  • Shat Says:

Lawrence obviously has great talent. when he gets over his ego disorder, he might be worth watching. And please cut your hair hippie.

  • Pasttime Says:

You have a friend who said… blah, blah, Where’s the proof?

JLaw did it! Plain and simple. He beat everyone out there tonight, except for Reed. And since Stewart caused the whole pile-up in turn one, I don’t feel sorry for the guy. Milsaps made it back up to third. Guess he saved time not jumping onto someone else’s bike.

  • Brendan Lutes Says:

D23moto your “good friend” must not have stayed around long enough to witness the true outcome of the sound test that was performed on Lawrence’s bike. If you read the report about the final practice sessions, this incident was mentioned. Yes, Jason’s bike didn’t pass sound the first time, but his team protested it, stating that the loud speakers——that were in use at the time of the test and located right next to the sound test station——caused Lawrence’s bike to not pass by adding to the ambient noise around the bike. The AMA performed a second test when the speakers weren’t being used, and J-Law’s bike passed——albeit by a very slim margin. His bike did pass, though, and it was legal.

  • Hat Says:

am I the only one who think villopoto did his best race of the season? except from when he stalled it ofcourse. he kept it pretty close to reed from the crash in the first corner until windham and alessi. would be fun to see what lap times he would get when he had a clear track

  • Pasttime Says:

    See… the facts.

  • G- Snatch Says:

i dont think u know the sarcasm when you see it. of coarse he did the right thing by avoiding it.

  • G- Snatch Says:

i was just tryin to show domino how dumb he sounds

  • G- Snatch Says:

well you obviously can’t spell somthing as simple as G. last time i checked you weren’t supposed to put a j in front of it.

  • Anonymous Says:

funny thing is people have been saying that for years

  • spdy566 Says:

I like j law,he is not trying to fit into anybodys mold. top 5 qualifier at indy sick.all buiness on the track, reminds me alittle of bob hannah back in the day and there were plenty of people haten on him long before we had the internet.I respect j law for his skills on the track just like I respected hannah. The only differance between j laws style and hannahs is when reed caught up j law respectfully moved over and let him by , hannah would have drilled him

  • G- Snatch Says:

Hey D23moto, i just heard from my friend who heard from his dad, who heard from the mayor, and he said that J Law is planning on running for president and eventually taking over the world. We need to stop this guy before its too late!

  • Glenn Eley Says:

Derrrrr…..snatch breath, look at the top of the post

    JG (sic)
