The GP of Italy, which is the opening round of the 2009 MXGP World Championships this season, is under way in Faenza. Staying true to the two-day format, the GP sets aside Saturday for practice and qualifying. The first, or free, practice is a 40 minute open track for the riders to dial in the track and their bikes. Later this afternoon, the qualifying races will commence for gate pick for tomorrow’s races. Stay tuned for results from qualifying; but until then, enjoy some photos from free practice.
