Jacksonville Supercross First Practice

After torrential downpours earlier in the week, the inaugural Jacksonville round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series has somehow been blessed with near perfect conditions. Blue skies and warm weather have created a pleasant atmosphere for the 14th round of the series. Word is that the Dirt Wurx crew, waiting for the rains to die down, built the track in about 12 hours. What many expected to at least be a soft track has turned out to be slightly on the dry side.

In the first set of practices, newly crowned East Coast Lites champ, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Christophe Pourcel topped the lap times, ahead of his teammate Austin Stroupe, and Division Seven/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Matt Lemoine.

For the Supercross class, with any Florida round being a homecoming race for many of the sport’s top riders, Florida native San Manuel/L&M/Yamaha rider James Stewart recorded the fastest lap time followed by series rival Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki’s Chad Reed and Toyota/JGR/Yamaha’s Josh Grant. Check out the gallery below and be sure to check back later for more from Jacksonville.
