Product: SixSixOne Fenix Helmet (tested in the Rad 1987 colorway)
Application: Dome Protection
Options: XS-XXL
Colors: Fusion Black/Gold, Fusion Orange, Fusion Cyan, Rad 1987, Rad 1988, Rad Ghost, City Flage, Flash
Price: $374.99 (Flash scheme is $399.99)
Key Features:
- Kevlar, Carbon fiber and fiberglass composite tri-weave shell
- Bagmold technology ensures a consistent resin thickness over the entire helmet
- Wider, longer chin bar for increased roost protection, safety, and comfort
What We Liked:
-Wide eye-port works well with most goggles
-Comfortable inner EPS foam has no notable pressure points on the noggin
-Removable/washable Liner is very effective in wicking away sweat
-Graphics are totally wizard and make you more attractive to the ladies
What We Didn’t Like:
-Limited breathability and airflow despite numerous vents
-Mesh padding not removable next to cheek pads and on the bottom at the back of the neck
What We Really Think:
SixSixOne has done an excellent job with their latest motocross helmet offering. The Fenix is light weight, immediately comfortable, and provides plenty of visibility with the wide eyeport. The biggest issue we noticed was less than desirable airflow. At this time of year it is not a big issue, but come summer time with some long motos, airflow plays a huge factor in your riding performace. Other than that, we are just waiting for the Rad 1.21 gigawatts colorway with Doc Brown and a flying DeLorean.
