The 41st Motocross Classic descended onto Hangtown this weekend, and just about everything that can, did happen at the Northern California track. Mike Alessi took his first overall victory in the 450 class in front of a LIVE television audience, while Christophe Pourcel snagged his first American outdoor overall win in the 250 class. First-time winners weren’t the only highlights, however; Josh Grant was penalized, which forced him to give up what would have been his first 450 moto win, and Ryan Villopoto bowed out of competition all together after his first moto. Black flags, AMA penalties, big wrecks, great racing, and Monster girls…what more could you ask for from an outdoor National? Check out the gallery below for all of the highlights…

Jason Lawrence was kicked out of his fourth gate pick in the second moto for riding his bike outside of the staging area. Here he explains to Josh Hill and Josh Grant that he was just checking his brakes. (He broke the master cylinder off in the first moto).

well you have to think about all the other bad stuff jlaw has done in the past if it were any one else they might have let it slide he is lucky the ama is still letting him ride

Giving him a black flag was stupid after he let whole field pass him. Does any one remember a couple years ago at vegas when Tyler Evans jumped the gate and all they did was restart the race.

That BLOWS about Villopoto and Alessi is a HUGE Dick. This is a rough sport - get well RV2! Jail-Bird 338 is an idiot - he always brings them stupid stuff on himself. Grow up dude. You have WAY too much talent to pi$$ it all away!

How do you jump the gate? They didn't show it during the tv coverage and I don't understand. It falls back toward the riders, so did he wheelie over it as it fell? That would be skill and good timing if so. Lame call by the AMA after already giving him 40th gate pick for making sure his brake worked…

Yeah. what is "jumping the gate?" if it means wheeling over when the gate drops but is still in the air, I would call it a perfect start.

o my goodness. alls i can do is shake my head. jlaw, what a clown. he actually follows the rules and he still messes up. this guy has some perseverence (not spelled correctly). i would probably just quit the pros and keep my money and open up a track. hopefully get it ama sanctioned then have the 13 race of the outdoors series there
