2002 TransWorld Motocross Ride Day

What: TransWorld Motocross Ride Day
Where: Starwest MX; Lake Perris Fairground, Perris, CA
When: December 14, 2002

Last December, TransWorld Motocross sponsored a wildly successful Free Ride Day at Competition Park in San Jacinto, CA. Drawing over 2,500 participants, everyone was treated to a fun day of riding, freestyle demos, riding clinics, and a chance to look over the latest in bikes and accessories on vendor row. The cost for all that fun? Nada. It was completely free.

The TransWorld Motocross Ride Day is back for 2002, but with a slightly different spin. This time around it’s a more grass roots effort, and its primary focus will be on a Youth Demo Ride conducted by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Marc Fiore, Advertising & Marketing Manager at TransWorld Motocross said, “TransWorld Motocross is committed to help promote and grow the sport of motocross. Our goal is to introduce new people to this lifestyle and show them why motocross is the greatest sport in the world.”

The Youth Demo Ride will introduce kids from age 6-12 to riding in a fun and safe environment. According to Rob Gladden at the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, “If your son or daughter has expressed an interest in learning to ride a motorcycle, this is an easy and inexpensive way for them to try it.” Just like last year, the cost for this is everyone’s favorite price…free.

No experience is required, and riders will need nothing more than a parent or guardian to provide the required signature. Small trail bikes will be provided by The Motorcycle Safety Foundation, along with instruction on the bike’s controls.

Thor MX has also generously contributed to the effort by providing complete sets of riding gear (helmets, jerseys, pants, boots and gloves) for riders to wear while they’re working their way around the small flat oval. Bob Ketchum at Thor MX said, “We’re pleased to help the TWMX Youth Demo Ride. We support all levels of the sport, not just the top-level racers.”

More experienced riders can come out and ride on Starwest’s main track and pee-wee track, and TransWorld Motocross will pick up their gate fee for the day.
