KAWASAKI KX65

The starting point for young motocross racers

Motocross is a highly competitive sport, even among the youngest racers, which makes having the right motorcycle an absolute necessity. To help young motocross racers be competitive as possible, the Kawasaki KX65 motocross bike has leading-edge features, such as long-travel suspension, a high-performance two-stroke engine and six-speed manual transmission. Like its championship-winning sibling, the KX125, the KX65 is every bit a race winning Kawasaki.

A liquid-cooled, high-performance two-stroke engine powers the KX65 and features a strong, lightweight piston residing in an Electrofusion-coated cylinder. A CNC-machined finish on the bridge between the exhaust ports also contributes to better engine reliability and staves off seizures.

Perfect for young riders accustomed to smaller motorcycles, the KX65 has a quick and smooth-shifting six-speed transmission with a manual clutch-actuating mechanism. A quality shift drum bearing reduces oil drainage from the transmission to the side case, and chrome finished shift fork ends resist wear and keep the KX65 shifting smoothly for years to come.

The KX65 engine rests in a semi-double-cradle steel frame with reinforced tubing on the upper-main and rear-down tubes. And like its larger-displacement stable mates, the KX65’s swing arm uses the UNI-TRAK® linkage system, which applies progressively stiffer damping and spring rates to the single rear shock as the suspension is compressed. The shock and fork boast four-way adjustable rebound damping for optimal handling.

Lightweight aluminum rims reduce unsprung weight to help improve suspension action. Both wheels feature hydraulic disc brakes that not only provide great stopping power, but require little maintenance and simplify wheel removal.

The slim tank, seat and side covers contribute to the KX65 motorcycle’s sleek, racy appearance and enhance rider maneuverability. It also sports the unmistakable Kawasaki Lime Green plastic and graphics as the larger KX motorcycles.

Those who race their KX65 at designated events are eligible to receive support from Team Green„¢, Kawasaki’s amateur racing support program. Each year, Team Green provides regional support vehicles and highly trained technicians at more than 100 events, offering technical information and assistance to those who race Kawasaki products. Kawasaki also offers a comprehensive contingency program for amateur and professional riders who place well at designated events.

The competitive edge for youth MX racers

The mini ranks of motocross is often where the sport’s future stars begin to shine brightly, and with so many young racers aspiring to become the Supercross champions of tomorrow, they must have leading-edge machinery that sets them apart from their competitors. The Kawasaki KX85 motorcycle provides the competitive edge these riders need.

Thanks to its liquid-cooled, two-stroke, single-cylinder 84cc engine, the KX85 provides plenty of race-winning power. It’s equipped with high-tech features, such as an Electrofusion-coated cylinder with a narrow squish band and large volume to enhance top-end power. A machined finish to the bridges between the intake and exhaust ports helps prevent seizure and improves engine reliability.

Fuel delivery for the engine is provided by a 28mm carburetor that features a crescent-slide to position the needle closer to the intake ports. A Kawasaki Integrated Power-valve System (KIPS®) and exhaust pipe capped with a KX250-style muffler contribute to the KX85’s tractable powerband, which provides control for riders of varying skill levels.

A smooth-shifting six-speed transmission, hard chrome-finished shift fork ends, a thick base on the clutch basket housing and an additional bushing on the input shaft for extra durability are all features that make the KX85 shine.

The KX85 stands above the competition with its advanced chassis. It utilizes a high-tensile steel perimeter frame, and a specially designed gas tank sits inside the frame, lowering the fuel load and center of gravity for improved handling—yet another design borrowed from the bigger KX motorcycles.

Long-travel suspension at both ends helps to smooth out the roughest course for riders of every size and skill level. The 36mm inverted cartridge front fork has the capability of 18-way compression damping adjustment. Out back, the spring preload, compression and rebound damping are all adjustable on the UNI-TRAK® rear suspension system.

Those who race their KX85 at designated events are eligible to receive support from Team Green„¢, Kawasaki’s amateur racing support program. Each year, Team Green provides regional support vehicles and highly trained technicians at more than 100 events, offering technical information and assistance to those who race Kawasaki products. Kawasaki also offers a comprehensive contingency program for amateur and professional riders who place well at designated events.

    KAWASAKI KX100

The next step up from the mini ranks

As young riders grow taller and their skills dramatically advance, they often want a motorcycle that’s a little larger and a bit more powerful.

With larger wheels and tires, longer suspension travel and more engine displacement than the KX85, the Kawasaki KX100 provides the logical step up from the mini ranks. The KX100 is powered by a liquid-cooled, two-stroke engine, with a machined finish on the bridges between the intake and exhaust ports to improve engine reliability and help prevent seizure. With a displacement of 99cc, the motor breathes through a 28mm carburetor with a crescent slide to position the needle closer to the intake ports. A large air intake cutout on the airbox and large-diameter duct to the carburetor improve airflow. Meanwhile, a carbon-fiber intake reed valve aids throttle response and a smooth-shifting six-speed transmission gives the KX100 a gear for every situation on the track.

The high-tensile steel perimeter frame for the KX100 supports a specially designed gas tank that lowers the fuel load, and in turn, the center of gravity, for improved handling. Protected by Kawasaki Lime Green plastic that wears graphics to match the larger-displacement models, the frame has a slim symmetric finish and provides a comfortable riding position.

Adjustable long-travel suspension at both ends helps to smooth even the roughest motocross courses. The 36mm inverted cartridge fork has compression damping adjustment capability and the UNI-TRAK® rear suspension system comes equipped with a shock that is fully adjustable for spring preload, compression
