The photos taken by Jeff Kardas at the final round of the 2014 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in Tooele, Utah, captured the bittersweet conclusion to the 2014 “regular season.” While many specialty events dot the calendar during the offseason, last Saturday in Utah was the last time we’ll for sure see the entire field line up behind the gate until the opening round of Monster Energy Supercross at Angels Stadium of Anaheim in January of 2015. Sure, the riders are happy to have break from the rigors of racing, but there’s nothing better than seeing a pack of motorcycles thunder down a start straightaway every Saturday.
One thing we noticed when going through Kardy’s photos is that many of the battles on the track were between teammates. In quite a few photos, you’ll see riders from Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki, Red Bull KTM, Rockstar Energy Racing KTM, Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda, and Yamalube/Star Racing/Yamaha going at it for a better spot in the running, all while keeping things as clean as possible. For some, it’s the last time they’ll race each other on “friendly terms,” since many are changing teams this offseason.
