Check out our coverage of the 2015 Monster Energy Supercross series opening round in Anaheim…

What did riders have to say after the race? Hear from the field in "How Was Your Weekend?"

One question we always hear is, “How much does a rider make for a main event win?” Before each year, the AMA publishes a scale for the prize money paid out to the 250 and 450 classes for finishes in the main event and LCQ. This year’s 250 class purse has received a long overdue increase in funds, as the winner of the main event now receives $3350 compared to the $2500 prize previously awarded (the entire pay scale for the class has been altered as well).

Unlike most mainstream sports, a rider’s salary from a race team is rarely disclosed to the public and every participant of a Monster Energy Supercross event must pay entry ($200 per event) and FIM/AMA professional licenses fees. This post reflects solely what is earned from the AMA and excludes any performance bonus or salary a rider receives from their teams or supporters. (We could make mention of the money handed down by an OEM to the their rider, but most amounts discussed are considered rumors and the actual sums are unavailable.)
