In case you didn’t already know, it’s been raining in Southern California for the better part of the past two days. Luckily, however, Dirt Wurx was able to finish the track on Thursday afternoon and get it covered just before the storm hit. Currently, it’s pouring in Anaheim, the track is still covered, and there’s a good chance that practice will be postponed or canceled. Previously when rain has hit other Supercross races, the track has remained covered until just before the night show, and only a short practice session was held for each class. We’ll continue to keep you up to date on all the news that happens today, as well as what we learn from the AMA once the riders’ meeting takes place at 11:15.
(Above photo): The track has been covered since being completed on Thursday.
(Above Photo): The rain is coming down sporatically this morning, and the forecast is calling for rain all day.
(Above Photo): The start straight is a soggy mess.

I was at the Daytona mud/water race last year and it was the best race I have ever seen.
February 7th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
Hope they figured out a way to pull the tarps off without the water running back onto the track…
February 7th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
No joke. I was at that race last year in Daytona. Reed hammered that bike the last lap.

Tarp central, must of been a masive pain in the ass for the grounds workers… Imagine trying to fold up nicely all those tarps for proper storage once the rain leaves… eww.
Special shout out to the grounds crew, Dirt Wurx i assume, for hussling to get it covered before the storm ! Us twmx fans thank you !! Oh and lest i forget, Lutesy, thanks for ur concern on updating the fans !
Cheers !

I see they haven’t taken onboard the suggestion (was it DV12?) of having the tuff blocks in the centre of the track to channel the water off.
Still, mud is always entertaining…
February 7th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
you would of thought that dirt wurxs would of learned my now to put tuff blockes in the center of the lanes so that water would run off. guess not tho

I just talked to a friend who’s already there, and he said it’s scattered clouds right now, no rain. FYI

i really hope bubba doesnt win i dont want him to get hurt but just to make the series interesting his bike needs to blow up and reed needs to win.

Villopoto or Grant will win mud race for sure. Everyone thinks Bubba or Reed but you are in for surprise tonight, or may be wINDHAM or millsaps
February 7th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
James and Chad arent exactly the best mud riders(remember millville when ricky lapped them?) I hope to see a suprise winner, Ryan Villopoto might be a good pick, i hope he takes it!
