After a short break in the WMA schedule Yamaha Factory backed www.BlueStarrMX.com riders Sarah Whitmore & Tarah Gieger were ready to get back to racing this weekend in Denver Colorado and finished 1st and 2nd at Thunder Valley Raceway.
They had a little bad luck with crashes in moto one with Gieger finishing 2nd and Whitmore finishing 4th but moto two was the best of the day with the girls battling back and forth and trading positions for the second half of the race. In the en Whitmore won the moto and Gieger won the overall.
“My factory YZ250F was working great this weekend in Colorado. It was a fun track and the crowds were really behind us the whole way.” said Gieger who is coming off her class win at Mammoth Mountain MX last month.
“I think it’s great that Colorado has a national again after all these years and it felt great to win a moto out here on my Yamaha YZ125. Our sponsors this season have been awesome! Thanks to everyone who’s helped make the team happen this year.” added Whitmore.
Joining the already powerful list of team sponsors is top Colorado horse breeder Wisteria Winds. Owner Debora Phelan has been around motocross racing all her life and even rides herself. “I think it’s exciting how much the sport of motocross has grown over the past 10 years and it’s great to see how much the level of competition and participation has increased in the women’s classes”.
Richardson’s RV, the premier RV dealer in Southern California and a big supporter of local motocross and powersports enthusiasts made the decision to continue their sponsorship beyond the initial two round contract after receiving a great response from their involvement. Richardson’s RV owner/manager Marc Hauser said, “I am excited to be involved with women’s professional racing by sponsoring the BluestarrMX team. Women’s motocross is gaining momentum and has a big future; After all, girls need heroes too. In fact, my daughter is fascinated with motocross and Sarah and Tarah in particular, given all that they have accomplished in a sport that is dominated by males. She is so excited about motocross we just recently built a mini track at our home.”
Also continuing sponsorship their sponsorship is PPG Automotive Finishes and Motorsportsproducts.com.
Washougal follows Colorado and is held in conjunction with the AMA Outdoor Nationals on Saturday, July 30th.
