Lifestyle-Based Wireless Telecommunications Company Boosts Commitment to Youth Action Sports
IRVINE, California — BOOST Mobile today announced a sponsorship deal with 2002-2003 THQ World Supercross GP & AMA Supercross Series champion James “Bubba” Stewart.
“Our partnership with James Stewart is a key part of BOOST Mobile’s tradition of supporting action sports that inspire and entertain the youth market,” said Mark Fewell, Director of Media for BOOST Mobile. “Bubba is young, exciting, highly competitive, and epitomizes the qualities that BOOST Mobile stands for.”
17-year-old Stewart quickly showed U.S. motocross fans his winning caliber during this year’s THQ World Supercross GP & AMA Supercross Series by taking first place in Anaheim on January 4, 2003, and then winning three straight races in a row. He won his seventh 125cc Western Regional AMA Supercross Series race last weekend in Dallas and clinched the championship.
In addition, this month’s issue of Teen People included a profile of Stewart as one of “20 Teens Who Will Change the World,” as voted on by Teen People editors. Stewart has now graced the pages of some of the nation’s largest publications including Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, Teen People, USA Today, Seventeen, and Complex Magazine.
James “Bubba” Stewart will be competing this weekend in the final round of the 2003 THQ World Supercross GP & AMA Supercross Series, and despite already having tied up the series Championship title, he is sure to continue his hard-charging style for the Las Vegas crowds.
Bubba will also make an appearance with BOOST Mobile’s other team riders, including Jeremy McGrath, Ernesto Fonseca, Sebastian Tortelli, Brock Sellards, Ivan Tedesco, Craig Anderson and Josh Hanson at Wal-Mart in Las Vegas on Thursday May 1, 2003. All of these Supercross stars will gather at the Wal-Mart parking lot at 4350 North Nellis Blvd., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., to meet with motocross fans, and sign autograph cards and posters.
BOOST Mobile’s sponsorship of Stewart extends the company’s commitment to supporting top athletes of surf, snow, skate, motocross and BMX. In addition to Stewart, some of the company’s sponsored team riders include World champion surfers Andy Irons and Layne Beachley, skateboarders Tony Trujillo and Rune Glifburg, snowboarders Kevin Jones and Torah Bright, motocross riders Jeremy McGrath and Sebastian Tortelli, and BMX rider Allen Cooke.
