Monster Energy/Kawasaki ready to pony up $25,000 if RC wins Steel City
CARLSBAD, Calif., (Sept. 1, 2005) ¿ Officials at Monster Energy Drink and Kawasaki are pleased to announce the culmination of the season-long Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown of Motocross ¿ a $25,000 winner-take-all bonus promotion that began at Mt. Morris, Pa., ran through RedBud (Buchanan, Mich.) and finishes up this weekend at Steel City Raceway with the running of the Monster Energy/Kawasaki Pro MX National at Steel City, Round 11 of the 2005 AMA Motocross Championship, presented by FMF.
Stoked to be part of the MX Nationals, the generous folks from Monster Energy and Kawasaki are on the cusp of having to pay out what¿s believed to be largest three race bonus in the history of motocross ¿ the $25,000 Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown of Motocross. And according to Scott Sepkovic of Crown Athlete Management Group, there¿s no more deserving recipient of the check than the hardest working racer in motocross ¿ Team Makita/Suzuki¿s Ricky Carmichael.
¿Ricky¿s earned it, that¿s for sure,¿ said Sepkovic. ¿If there¿s one racer that typifies the determination, pride and success of product that Monster Energy and Kawasaki represent, it¿s Ricky. Granted, he¿s still got to go out there and win it ¿ and there¿s a number of racers that would like nothing better than to upset his chances at the 25 grand. But odds are that he will and Monster Energy and Kawasaki will be more than happy to hand the big check over to him in front of the big crowd at Steel City.¿
Said Carmichael: ¿I think it¿s great for the sport when outside-the-industry companies such as Monster Energy Drink get involved with promotions like this. I¿d like to say I¿d be happy to take their money, but there¿s still a race I¿ve got to go out and win this weekend and anything can happen. I¿m sure Kevin (Windham) would like to put a stop to my streak, then lean over to me when we¿re flying to France for the Des Nations and say `RC, you got 25 grand I can borrow?¿¿
In addition to the hefty bonus, Monster Energy and Kawasaki also doled out checks for $500 each to the top privateers in each class at Mt. Morris and RedBud, as they will at Steel City. And to top that off, lucky fans at all three Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown rounds can register to win a Monster Energy/Kawasaki/Pro Circuit KLX 110 mini bike.¿Everybody at Monster Energy and Kawasaki are proud of their company¿s relationship with the Outdoor Nationals,¿ added Sepkovic. ¿And with the above-and-beyond efforts of the NPG to showcase Monster and Kawasaki at the Triple Crown events, we¿ll look forward to furthering our relationship with the NPG in the future while also assisting to help grow the great sport of motocross.¿
