TWMX ran into good friend Josh Hill this week at Perris Raceway where he and his girlfriend, Vanessa Florentino were putting in some laps to stay loose. Vanessa, a WMA racer herself, keeps Josh on his toes on and off the track. The two looked like they were having fun riding, so we were stoked that he took some time to chat with us a little about Supercross.
So Josh, what are you doing out here today. Are you just breaking up the monotony of Supercross or practicing for the upcoming outdoors?
I don’t know what I’m doing out here. I feel like goon and have been passed by every fast amateur this side of the Mississippi.
What happened in Atlanta? You were running very strong and then you cross-rutted and literally hit the wall.
Actually my bike hit the wall not me. It hit so hard. I’m not even sure what happened. I think I was wide open, dropped into a rut, cross-rutted and then it hooked up and just looped out. Luckily I didn’t get hurt. I think I only broke my toe.
How did it feel to get back on the podium at Indy after some pretty bad races and results?
Of course it felt great. I had been sick from San Francisco to actually just after Houston. Houston I faded pretty hard which bummed me out because I could of done pretty well. I’m glad to be back on track and feeling good.
At the beginning of the season you claimed you would win a SX event. After two-second place finishes that goal has got to feel very realistic.
Well yeah. I’ve finished second twice but was really never even close to Chad. I need to figure how to get the start I need so I can put myself into a good enough position to actually battle with Reed.
So what’s the plan from here on out? All podiums all the time.
Yes sir, a podium every race would be nice.
When do you begin testing for outdoors?
I don’t know! Haven’t heard anything. I think I’m just going to go buy a 250 two-stroke and start training hard.
