Chad Johnson/Junior Jackson Team Up And Shoot For AMA National Arenacross Series’ Premier Class Title

Last year’s 3rd place overall Arenacross class podium finisher — Johnson — back with Jackson

AURORA , Ill., (Oct. 26, 2005) — Arriving this weekend (Oct. 28-29) at Albany N.Y.’s Pepsi Arena — and already dubbed as an ‘instant contender’ — will be AMA National Arenacross Series overall Arenacross class podium finisher (3rd ) from last season, Yamaha-backed Chad Johnson.

Johnson, who teams up again this year with former factory racer turned team owner/mechanic, Junior Jackson, is one of the top preseason picks to challenge for the overall Arenacross class championship title.

“We are totally tested, 100-percent ready-to-go, said Jackson. “And we’re ready to make a charge for the title for sure.

Johnson, 23, brings with him a wealth of experience racing motocross and AMA Arenacross. A multi-time Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championship qualifier and top placer (4 th 125 Pro/Sport in ’99), last year was Johnson’s fifth-straight season competing on the AMA National Arenacross Series tour.

“This year there’s a couple guys missing to start out the season, said Johnson, noting defending champ Darcy Lange — who’s moved on to race the Amp’d Mobile/AMA Supercross Series. “But it seems to be like that every year. I’ve seen Greg Schnell race AMA Arenacross before, and know he’ll be real competitive. (Jeff) Northrop’s always a strong contender and, even though I haven’t seen him race Arenacross, I know Brock Sellards definitely has the credentials. Add to that John Dowd and this weekend’s going to be a great season opener for sure.

Helping Johnson with his quest for the AMA National Arenacross Series Arenacross class title, along with Jackson, will be: Yamaha, Thor, Dunlop, Works Connection, Smith, V-Force, Z-Billet and Concrete Products.
