BREA, Calif. (May 19, 2009) — Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing announced today that two-
time AMA Supercross Champion Chad Reed will contest the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross
Championship after having opted to sit out the last two MX seasons. Reed will race his Rockstar
Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 in the Motocross class in the 12-round series, which kicks off this weekend
on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California.

“I’m really looking forward to racing the Outdoors this year,” said Reed. “And I’m excited about it for
several reasons. The last few years, I didn’t race Motocross because I really felt like I needed to take a
break after the Supercross season. But this year, I feel so comfortable with the Rockstar Makita Suzuki
team and everybody has been so supportive that it just makes me want to get out there and race.
Also, I’ve been impressed with the changes to the series that MX Sports has done and I think they’re
taking it in the right direction. So I really want to be a part of that and support the series and the
sport. My team and my sponsors have stepped up to make this happen and I can’t thank them
enough.”

In the 2009 AMA Supercross Series, Reed led the points chase for most of the season and finished
up in second place overall. The Australian raced his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 to three victories
and finished on the podium in all 17 races, save one. Reed is a former two-time AMA Supercross
Champion, THQ World Supercross Champion, AMA Supercross Lites Champion and a World
Motocross Grand Prix winner.

Wonderful news! Damn this is good news :D

  • codee Says:

i kinda hope bubba doesnt race, its a joy to watch the guy ride but its more of a joy to see an actual race for the lead and it should be a 3 or 4 way battle all season between reed, villiopoto, lawrence and alessi

  • Pennsylvania Says:

I have a whole new respect for Chad Reed and for the entire Suzuki Team on this news!

  • anonymous Says:

This is great! I'm glad to see reedys positive attitude shine through. It will make him someone to reckon with outdoors!

  • the dude Says:

oh well bubba not racing this year..losers..Villopoto will own it this year.

  • kxman Says:

no wonder Reed left San Manuel Yamaha…1st class clown outfit..dumb, dumb, dumb. Carmichael would never let anyone tell him what your riding, where and when.

  • Dr. Dirt Says:

If Stewart doesn't race, whoever wins the championship doesn't know if they where really they best this year or if they would have been second rate. I would be happy to see bubba race, I always want to see the fastest guys on the track, even if they are running away with it.

  • jfdcjfgj Says:

If james raced there is no way Chad would be there with him. If James was racing it would be an awesome battle between him and Villopoto though.

  • bd200 Says:

Dr. Dirt, Whoever wins the championship is the best , if you dont race you arent the best, period. If Stewart wants to be considered the best then he needs to grow a pair and tell Brooks that he is racing and go and try to win. Otherwise he isnt the best because he isnt there.

  • Ral820 Says:

i hope reed villopoto and alessi, and maybe even grant have a crazy title fight

  • ryan Says:

Reed finishing top 5 would be sick. good on ya for commin back to the nationals!! this season will be epic with j-law and villipoto on the big bikes. stokage level = 110%!!!

  • Geevs Says:

stewart will be racing at glen helen

  • Josh Says:

You nailed it. How can a guy sitting at home still be considered the best. Might as well say Reed was the best in 07 and 08.

  • Railer703 Says:

Glad to see Reed is gonna be racing! I cant believe Stewart is not racing the outdoor series. That is why Charmicheal is the G.O.A.T, he would never let his team tell him he is not gonna race nor would he choose not to race. Stewart needs to man-up!

  • minnesota Says:

ha your full of bs,, you really think if stewart doesnt race the nationals hes going to be just sitting at home on his @$$… get the f outta here.. your thinking way stupid

  • alex Says:

  • Davin Says:

  • ryan Says:

it's JS1 now! haha. truthfully, it would be hard for any rider to beat stewart out there.

  • Scollyr23 Says:

Will Reed be Competitive though. hope he doesn't get hurt looking forward to seeing he at the Sydney Supercross latter this year. Maybe this time next year Chad will be outdoor and indoor Champ,
    CR1.

  • Jpmodd Says:

Its funny JS1 really dosent have any thing else to prove!! He is has already won this title. If JS1 dosent ride i wont feel bad at all,id like to see Ivan tedesco win some races and RV!! Reed is just still sobbing over the SX championship so is his Team.Hell he may retire at the end of the year when RV wins the out door championship If JS1 dosent winn it.

  • cole Says:

    lol not 200. fo-fiddy

  • crrider94 Says:

which one is it??? Is Reed racing because he didn't win the championship this year in supercross? or is it because he is on makita suzuki?[polldaddy 1638453 http://answers.polldaddy.com/poll/1638453/ polldaddy]

  • jeremiah Says:

the only reason chad reed is going to race the outdoor season is because stewart isn't racing…he wants to win a championship so bad that he will do anything…chad is a great rider and he will be even better when he realizes that he will always be 2nd, especially when racing against stewart or carmichael!! quit whining about losing already!

  • Slot001 Says:

Isnt that what racings about? Itll be a shame if James doesnt make it

  • T-Dog Says:

Can any one tell me(even though i already know)why stewart is'nt racing the outdoors & why they did'nt say squat about it on tv?

  • T-dog Says:

yeah! like vegas-& we all know thats why he's not racing the outdoors, couse other riders are starting to run his pace & he's scared,he don't like it if his lap times are'nt much faster than everyone else & a rider like reed starts taking a little of the spot light, I just hope he can man up & pass the torch like RC & Mcrath. This sport has always been 1 of the most respectful sports in the world & i'd hate to see a carried selfish disrespectful rider take that away, & wen ya say ya keep giving-a-guy a race win, thats wat your doing. When reed said the fastest guy don't always win(which is true & nobody wants to hear that)thats when people started calling him a whiner, but try to tell me wen reed has said anything bad about any other rider-good luck.

  • T-dog Says:

stewart is'nt racing couse he knows the new up & comers are going to put it to him, & he needs to learn how to be a good sport & pass the torch like RC & Mcrath-respectfully, but then again stewart dont know wat that word means.

  • T-dog Says:

i agree-i wanted to see stewart get his ass kicked, thats why he did'nt show-he's got to big of head & can't take it like a man

  • T-dog Says:

u need to speak with some proof not just name calling, that vegas race made stewart look very chicken $hit-thats why he's not racing the outdoors.

  • T-dog Says:

    yeah-wat he rv1 said-he's to scared!

  • T-dog Says:

weres everyone at? hidden like stewart wen its time to talk the facts.
