The Chris Jones Memorial Fund wish to place on record our sincere thanks to all BSB management, officials, riders, teams, sponsors, the Motorcycle Industry, fans and followers of motorcycle racing everywhere for the incredible support shown in the funds’ first year in our quest to help improve safety in domestic racing.
Whilst the original target figure of £75,000 has now been reached, the continuing goodwill and enthusiasm of all has meant that we go into 2007 determined to continue fund raising to help secure even better medical equipment and facilities; to this end we’ll be meeting with key people in BSB to cost these requirements very soon.
People have worked tirelessly for the fund because they know 100% of monies raised will return to the paddock and we intend to repeat three of the major events of 2006- these being the bowling at Rotherham, the cycle race at Cadwell Park and the Brands Final round auctions- all raised a lot of money whilst being a lot of fun! It is also our desire to keep everyone better informed through the official website ( www.cjnine.com and additionally www.myspace.com/chrisjonesfund), being updated more regularly.
At the request of the Jones family, it is their wish to drop the ‘Memorial’ from the title, replacing this with a shorter and more encompassing title, possibly ‘The CJ Riders Fund’. We will advise of this and forthcoming events as soon as they are known.
Approaching the new racing season, we are continuously looking for items that can be auctioned and raffled to raise money for this worthy cause. If you have anything that may be suitable, please contact one of the fund members Steve Brookes, Pam Jones, Carly Rathmell or Paul Rees.
Thanks again and let’s hope all our aims are achieved in 2007.
