CARLSBAD, Calif., (Feb. 6, 2007) — The Monster Energy-backed Babbitt’s Kawasaki Race Team’s Darcy Lange put an end to the Boo Koo Arenacross Series’ championship chase a week before the season is scheduled to conclude, officially securing the overall title with a convincing 1-1-1-2 two night performance at Minneapolis’ Target Center.
The championship is Lange’s second in as many years with the new series. Prior to that he won the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series title in 2004.
“I’d really like to thank Monster for the support this year, said Lange. “We had an excellent team and Monster’s backing was the key ingredient that brought everything together. I’m happy we could put the Monster logo up on top of the box for the overall Boo Koo Arenacross Series title.
Lange went undefeated in heat races at the Target Center, sweeping his way into the main event on Friday and Saturday nights in both the 250 and 450 classes. In fact, the only racer with a shot at Lange, Tyler Bowers, failed to make the podium in the 250 class on Friday (12th) and eliminated himself from contention.
Lange will boot up this weekend to race for a chunk of the $100,000 purse Boo Koo Arenacross Series finals at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Arena. For more information on that event check out www.racearenacross.com .
Also noteworthy, Lange is in preliminary discussions with Pro Circuit for a possible Amp’d Moble AMA Supercross Series ride beginning in Atlanta (Feb. 24th) for the opening round of the 2007 AMA Supercross Lites Eastern Region title chase.
