AURORA, Ill. (May 1, 2003) – Clear Channel Entertainment¿s Motor Sports division announced today that Dirt Wurx USA signed a seven-year agreement to be the official racetrack track builders of THQ World Supercross GP/AMA Supercross Series.
Dirt Wurx USA, formed in 1990 by former AMA professional Rich Winkler, has more than 20 years of racetrack construction experience.
Dirt Wurx USA also designs, builds and maintains the test tracks for most of the U.S. factory motocross teams, as well as the tracks for Honda R&D at the Honda Proving Center of California. They also design, build and maintain many of the professional riders’ private practice tracks, do specialty work for motion pictures and television commercials, and build a variety of tracks for private individuals, public parks, and other live motor sports events each year.
¿Rich Winkler and his Dirt Wurx USA staff are the best in the business,¿ said Todd Jendro, director of supercross, Clear Channel Entertainment – Motor Sports. ¿They provide consistency in their track design and the track construction process.
¿The strict time restraints placed on the move-in and move-out of each venue and the challenges with weather our team faces each week makes Rich Winkler and the Dirt Wurx crew an asset to Clear Channel,¿ Jendro added.
¿Of course I am excited about renewing our contract with Clear Channel Entertainment¿s Motor Sports Division,¿ said Winkler, CEO of Dirt Wurx USA. ¿Our sport has seen unprecedented growth in the past few years. With the signing of this contract, we now have a long-term working relationship with the promoter, Clear Channel, and the sanctioning body, the AMA. This relationship will insure the stability necessary for the continued success of supercross through the end of the decade.
The final round of THQ World Supercross/AMA Supercross Series will air on ABC¿s Wide World of Sports Sunday, May 4 at 2:00-3:00 p.m. EST/3:00-4:00 p.m. PST.
