Jeff Emig donned his motocross gear once again for the 2002 Air Nautique/National Amateur Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s. Racing against 41 other riders in both the 250/ Open A/Pro Sport class and the Vet 30 Plus classes, Emig proved that he still has the old “FroDaddy” speed.
Following Joshua Hansen of Elbert, Colorado in the 250/Open A/Pro Sport class, Emig secured second in the first of three motos. Later in the day, Fro had his hands full with Kevin Walker in the Vet 30 Plus class after wedging his Kawasaki into second shortly after the first turn. The two moto-vets traded brief leads before Emig was able to pull away and score the top spot in the first moto.
During the post race interview, Emig appeared in shape and ready to turn ten more laps. Fortunately, he will get the chance as the week holds four more motos in-store for each of these classes before the championship trophies and #1 plates are awarded Saturday.
