Our UK bud, Mike Carpenter, headed out to Winchester, England to get this video of Team USA putting in some practice laps for this weekend’s big race on the other side of the pond. The video was shot Thursday at Tonymoto MX Parks (Tonymotomx.com), a Motocross training facility based near Winchester in the UK.
It was primarily a Kawasaki day, as not only Ryan Villopoto and James Stewart were there, but New Zealand’s Ben Townley (Pro Circuit) was out at the track, along with both the French Pourcel Brothers, Estonia’s Tanel Leok, Britain’s Tommy Searle, Billy MacKenzie (on Yamaha) and an injured Stephen Sword. Obviously Mitch Payton was there looking after his Pro Circuit team, and Jan De Groot was there with Factory Kawasaki.
Ivan Tedesco was also getting in some much needed practice time aboard RC’s RM-Z450, making some final changes to the bike with the help of Team USA Manager, Roger DeCoster. Mike talked with Roger, who confirmed it will be Tedesco racing this week, not the recovering Ricky Carmichael. Stewart and Tedesco also offer up some opinions on this weekend’s race and their chances at bringing home another victory for the US.
Today (the 22nd), all the riders and teams head to the MXoN, Matterly Basin Track to begin final preparations for the weekend.
