The second round of the National Arenacross series is where the Fun Bike Center (FBC) / PPG / Troy Lee Designs / Honda team picked up some momentum. Although this is the team’s first season in Arenacross, they are already on their way to a great season.
Shane Bess, the team’s rookie in this series, came out strong on Friday during practice and went on to place 4th in the 125 Pro class and 7th in the 250 Pro class at Friday’s event. With the first night’s results behind him, Shane again came out even faster and more determined during Saturday’s event, and demonstrated this determination by winning his 260 Heat race. In that night’s main events he achieved 4th in the 125 class and 5th in the 250 class, bettering his previous results.
Brad Hagseth, who severely injured his hand at the first round, was running strong on Friday and obtained 7th in the 125 class. He was riding great in Friday’s 250 main, when he re-injured his already swollen hand, and fell back to 15th.
Buddy Antunez, team owner, stated, “I could not be happier with the performance of both riders. Brad is showing a lot of heart in going out and riding with his hand in the condition it is. Shane is doing great. I knew he had the speed; it is just a matter of time, probably next week, before he winds up on the podium. He is already 4th in points. Every week the team is getting better and should continue to get better results as the season wears on.
The next round will be held in Worcester, MA on November 12 and 13.
