Ground Breaking: Damon Huffman Takes the SXGP Points Lead to San Francisco

Making good on last week¿s promise to get a top-five finish, Moto XXX¿s Damon Huffman took to the innovative Anaheim 3 track and delivered a solid fourth place ride. The performance was Huffman¿s best of the AMA series, but more importantly, saw him take over the points lead in the THQ World Supercross GP championship. He is now in sole possession of the number one spot and deservedly so after battling with factory stars at every race this year. It was not an easy night for Huffman, who wrestled with bad luck in his heat race and semi and had to qualify out of the LCQ. Maybe the additional track time was a blessing in disguise.

Leading a major championship is new ground for Moto XXX, but Huffman has the experience to make this one stick. After all, the man has a couple of 125 Supercross titles to go along with a World SX championship. Damon¿s quiet improvement in results since finishing second in last year¿s Canadian National series has been garnering notice from observant fans and industry personnel.

Next stop for “Huff Daddy” and Moto XXX will be the San Francisco Supercross where the team welcomes Marin Cycle Works to the fold. This dealership has a great reputation in the Bay Area and is making a bold show of support for racing by entering into an association with Moto XXX. In addition to Damon Huffman, look for Moto XXX/Marin Cycle Works rider Tim Weigand on the #56 Honda CRF250R in San Francisco. Timmy is gaining experience and quickly improving in the uncharted waters of supercross, as evidenced by his solid riding in Anaheim.

Finally, a note from team co-owner Jordan Burns: “Thanks to all of the Moto XXX supporters who came out to The Grove last Friday night to see my band Strung Out. The crowd was huge and we had a great time playing for supercross fans again. We hope to see all of you at the races soon.”

Moto XXX would like to thank the following sponsors for their support in 2004, because without them, it couldn¿t be done. American Honda, Yoshimura, O’neal, Honda Genuine Parts, Sidi, Tag Metals, Blackfoot, Motul, Pro-X, Utopia Optics, N-Style, Lucky 13, Uni Filter, VP Fuels, Braking, Motion Pro, Hinson, Metaltek, NoleenJ6, Dunlop, RK Chain, Excel Wheels, Vortex, ARC, Works Connection, Carbon Fiber Works, Galfer, SDG Seats, Plasticwerks, Engine Ice, PPG, Asterisk.
