Hamblin Injured at Anaheim

Suzuki’s Sean Hamblin injured in a crash in his qualifier; he is expected to make a complete recovery

MURRIETA, Calif., (January 19, 2004) — Suzuki’s Sean Hamblin was injured in a crash in his qualifier at Edison International Field on Saturday night. Hamblin crashed in the whoop section and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

The 21-year-old sustained a bruised lung and a dislocated jaw. He also suffered from a hematoma to his bicep and chipped a tooth. Hamblin is expected to make a full recovery. He will consult with his personal physician early this week to determine a safe date for his return to competition.

“I’ll be fine; I’m just disappointed and a little sore,” said Hamblin. “I need to meet with my doctor and get the green light to race again, but it’s doubtful I’ll race in San Diego this weekend. I’ll know more tomorrow afternoon.”

Sean Hamblin was 10th in points coming into the third round of the supercross series. He put in an impressive ride at the Phoenix round, starting in almost last place and working his way to eighth.

Sean Hamblin’s sponsors include Suzuki, Alloy, Shoei, Alpinestars, Spy, Ogio, Kicker and DC Shoes.
