Though no details are set in stone and nothing is signed, it looks as if our friend Sean Hamblin has indeed been recruited by Team Yamaha to fill in for the oft-and-again-injured Broc Hepler. Reports from the Knothole Club at Anaheim 1 had Keith McCarty speaking very seriously with the former Canadian National Champion.
Furthermore, one of our local readers who likes to frequent the factory Supercross test tracks aboard a dual-sport bike called this afternoon and reported seeing Hamy practicing on what looked to be Hepler’s machine.
A quick text message exchange with Hamblin confirmed nothing, as all he would say was, “Nothing is signed, but I will call you as soon as anything is final!”

Sweet!!
But that really sucks for Hepler, I was hoping to watch him race, he had the potential to spice it up with the big-ger guys.
Ohh.. and is it me, or does Mike Alessi really suck at Supercross? I seriously think he should just stay home training for the nationals, thats where he shines.

Alessi rode way better than Hill and Millsaps. Im sorry but Hill looked out of shape, either that his Yamaha was way slow. Millsaps didnt look good at all either. Both looked like they just wanted to cruise around.

Hamblin will do better than all 3. Watch, he has heart. Same with Ramsey, he should be riding instead of Hill

HEPLER HAS NOT FINSHED A SEASON YET. HE WILL BE DROPPED AND NOBODY WILL WANT TO PICK HIM UP UNLESS THEY WANT TO JUST DO HALF A SEASON.
MIKE ALESSI IS STILL RECOVERING. IT WILL TAKE TIME B4 HE GETS UP TO 100%. THINGS WILL CHANGE UP BOTH IN SX AND LITES CLASS. BUBBA IS BEHIND 18 POINTS SO THAT KINDA MAKES THE RACE FAIR.

I am tired of teams betting on inconsistent hot shots while guys like n8 dog and hamblin are forced to sing for their supper.

Hill just started riding a few weeks ago, so I wouldnt blame him too much.
But I agree about Millsaps, he just wasnt giving it his best, maybe hes hiding an injury or something.
PS: I hope you people know that you dont lose your talent from one day to another, its not like Space Jam was a real movie.

Alessi just started riding supercross a few weeks ago that is why he is not looking too good. He will get better as the season goes on.

good for the good guy hamblin. But sad that broc hepler injured himself again. I saw him here in sweden and he won here. He is fast for sure a top 5 rider no doubt. But he have bad cloud above him? How many years, have he been hurt?

Millsaps needs to be dropped by Honda. It’s a shame they kept him this year he doesn’t want to win let alone ride competitively ….give that ride to someone that will actually put in the works Millsaps is just collecting a paycheck and has been for a while
January 7th, 2009 at 11:20 am
theres alot of riders that are just as fast and even faster. hes doing realy good and as hard as he works u should feel like crap for saying that. this is what he does for a living and your saying he shouldnt be racing? and all riders have there ups and downs they all make mistakes. reed made allot. same with ryan D but he made up for it in outdoors.

Couldnt agree any more.
Millsaps is a great rider, it has been said several times. He rode great in the outdoors, he was just missing the endurance, which he had the last races before he wiped out and injured his shoulder (i believe).
There is absolutely no reason why he should be dropped, he has brought a lot of success to Honda and right now might be hitting a dry spot and needs to recover.
I mean, who knows whats going on, maybe he has some personal issues or something, all i can say is that we cant judge him because he wasnt at his game at the first race of the season.
Like seriously, you people speculate so much based on the performace of 1 race.

hey morons at the top of the comments.
hill and alessi have been hurt.

It is still way to early in season (one damn race) to start calling people out for effort, ability, etc. They have only completed 6% of the season. Let’s look at the first 4-5 races to see some trends develop before jumping to conclusions.

I’m tired of hearing you Couch racers talkin head. If any of you actually raced you’d know what the first race of the season is like. I never even made it pro but my father always used to tell me “WHY CANT YOU RACE THE SAME WAY YOU COME OUT AND PRACTICE?” . the season opener everybody’s dealing with anxieties, diarhea, nerves, fear of the unknown. everybody’s bodies adapt to those emotions differently. Of cource you idiots, YOU CANT COME OFF AN INJURY AND BE 100%. Alessi is a hothead (results show he’s better outdoors). But surely he’s training his ass off. (lets see how fast you’ll be first race back after getting landed on by 6 450’s). Hill Will run up front. Time will show. He’s dedicated. Just by watching him fooling around on 2-strokes and goon riding, you can tell that racing/riding is more than a job for Josh Hill. Its his passion, its fun. He will be up front soon. stop the nonsense. i’m not an alessi fan at all. but i cant stand potato chip couch racers

Good for you Hambone! Nice guys like you that bust their butt deserve a break, even if it with a non-fuel injected Yamaha - haha. And yes, Alessi BLOWS at Supercross! See all of you bi-snatches at Indianapolis!
January 7th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
did you see how many holeshots alessi pulled in 2008 he is so good
January 7th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
millsaps is a fast rider true but i think that its shortys season this year for honda. he deserves a win
January 7th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
hamy is a pretty sic guy. lets hope he makes it but it is to bad that B HEP couldnt make it this season. he needs a win also.
January 7th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
lolz..
Perfect example of somebody that has no reading comprehension.
January 8th, 2009 at 12:13 am
Yeah, I’m sorry but I think Millsaps is just too big for motocross racing. He should have played football especially being from Georgia and all.
January 8th, 2009 at 12:15 am
Poor Hep can’t catch a break. It’s ashame because the boy can ride a bike like no tomorrow. I do believe either N8 Dawg or Hamblin would be excellent fill-ins.
January 8th, 2009 at 1:04 am
So where was Yamaha BEFORE Hepler got hurt? Hamblin did a really good job filling at Yamaha last year but they didn’t seem to make him any offers for this year until Hepler got hurt (again). I’d like to see Hamblin get some support from someone else and tell Yamaha to piss off.
January 8th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Im quoting what I read on here. “Millsaps is just collecting a paycheck”! NOW that is funny! Hahaha! I will have to agree. He is showing no speed!
January 9th, 2009 at 10:22 am
my dream team would be damon bradshaw, hamblin, wey, and preston.
