A new Arenacross team consisting of Arenacross veteran Tommy Hofmaster and Oklahoma’s Colt Humphrey are about to make their mark at the inaugural BooKoo Arenacross Championship series that starts this weekend in Fort Worth, Texas.
The team, put together by Hofmaster and his agent Steve Aldaco, will be called Team Sano/ PPG/ Shogun Motorsports/ Motion Cyclesports. Both Hofmaster and Humphrey will be aboard Yamahas and will contest the entire BooKoo Arenacross series and then the remaining rounds of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series.
Texas resident Hofmaster, now 26, has finished second in the Arenacross series twice and has won many races throughout his career in the tight indoor confines and won the “Dash for Cash title in 2004. The Sleepwalker is still looking for his first Arenacross title, but knows it won’t be easy and he is teamed up with championship winning mechanic Jack Yost who works out of the Motion Cyclesports Yamaha shop in Fort Worth, Texas. Yost most recently won titles in 2003 and 2004 while working with Josh Demuth.
“I’m going to give it another try, stated Hofmaster of the Arenacross championship. “I got a few offers to ride Supercross, but I’ve been working at Arenacross for so long that I might as well give it another shot, but as I found out last year at the opener, anything can happen to anyone.
Jim Downey of PPG stated, “We are glad to be a part of Tommy’s team for this new series. Tommy is well known for his experience on the Arenacross tour and is a great representative for any company to sponsor, due to his well-rounded and laid-back personality, as well as his understanding and desire to give his sponsors as much exposure and attention as he possibly can.
Humphrey, now 22 has ridden the Arenacross series for the last few years with multiple top five finishes and a 13th overall last year. The nearby Oklahoma resident was the top choice for the Shogun/ Motion Cyclesports squad and is looking for big things out of him in 2006.
“I’m pumped to be on this team with Tommy and the guys from Shogun, Humphrey said of the upcoming adventure. “I’ve had my bikes for a few weeks now and I really like them and plan on being in the top five this year if not better.
