Indy Report

One of the big calendar items for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in the motorcycle industry is the Dealernews International Powersports Dealer Expo, or as pretty much everyone calls it…Indy. No matter what you call it, it’s a three-day blur of handshakes, walking, networking, parties, and looking at products (both good and bad).

Since it covers the entire powersports industry, you get everything from electric scooters to land speed record streamliners powered by two four-cylinder twin-turbo engines. There’s stuff for dirt, street, off-road, hawgs, XR50s—you name it—and weeding through all the “stuff” to find what you’re looking for means a whole lot of hoofing through the Indianapolis Convention Center, and the adjoining RCA Dome (which will soon host a supercross of its own).

But just in case you hadn’t spent enough time on your feet, there was also no shortage of after-hours fun. Thor, One Industries, Tucker Rocky and more all sponsored various nighttime shindigs. After a few nights of that, you started to wonder if you were in Indy, or Vegas.

The show isn’t motocross-specific, nor do a lot of companies time their new product introductions to coincide with the show, but it’s a must-do. Here are a few things that we spotted that helped make the trip worthwhile.
