After a serious crash in the first turn that caused a restart of the 250 LCQ in Phoenix, here’s an update on Jimmy Wilson.
Jimmy Wilson was discharged yesterday from Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix following successful surgery to install a plate and screws to stabilize his fibula and clean up some of the soft tissue damage. The outlook is good. He’ll be going to California for Anaheim 2 and then home to an ankle specialist for follow-up. Rehab should begin in 6-7 weeks with the possibility of riding in 8. That’s the thought today, but final judgment comes after seeing the specialist.
Jimmy wants to thank everyone for the well-wishes he has received. But a special thanks goes out to Doc Bodnar and the Asterisk Mobile Medical crew that took such good care of him, Randy from Michelin, his mechanic Kyle, and all the other folks that helped get him freed from the bike. Even though he wasn’t able to walk away from this one, he believes that the braces he was wearing and the Gaerne boots really did their job and prevented further injury. With that, Jimmy would like to thank all of his sponsors for their continued support: 7th Gear Lube / Michelin / Nicholson Honda / DeCal Works / SoCal Racing / Factory Connection / Gaerne / Works Connection / Scott Goggles / NBT / VP Racing Fuel / ICW / Twin Air / Boyesen / Arai / Tri-Starr / White Brothers / Renthal / Stomp / CEET / IMX / ProClean.
He’s ready to get busy with rehab and is committed to getting back out to the races as soon as possible.
