“Josh Wars”, the Saga Continues as Demuth and Woods Trade Wins in Glendale, AZ

Demuth Keeps Championship Points Lead at Eight

Glendale, AZ December 16, 2005 ¿ Advanstar ¿ a leading provider of print, event and online media for the powersports, off-road and automotive aftermarket industries ¿ opened up night one with an unbelievable event and some insane racing.

On Thursday December 15, 2005 you would have thought that they were never going to be able to start the K&N presents BooKoo Arenacross Championship Series Brought to you by Toyota racing on time Friday evening. The Phoenix Coyotes took on the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Glendale Arena delaying the building of the track until 4:00 am on Friday. Ten hours later the Schaefer Tracks crew had the track built and the festivities began.

The 250 main showcased the “Battle of the Joshes” as Josh Woods of Team Fun Center PPG TLD Suzuki grabbed the HoleShot and a huge lead to start his quest to regain the championship points lead. Josh Demuth of Team Babbitt’s Enxus Kawasaki, current championship points leader, charged from the middle of the pack to catch his rival, but Woods proved to be to strong claiming the top spot. Demuth finished strong in second place only losing two points to Woods. Kurt McCabe of Team GPS Racing Storm Lake Honda looked fast all night to captured the third and final podium spot, his first podium of the year.

The 450 main saw Demuth and Woods lined up next to each other on the starting line, but it would be Woods once again out front early leaving Demuth to play catch up. Demuth made his move and passed Woods on lap 16 when Woods landed on a tuff bloc that had blocked the track just after the catapult jump. Demuth then accelerated to the victory leaving Woods settling for second. Team Cernics Honda rider Brock Sellards, who battled with Demuth for second place most of the race would finish in third in his first BooKoo Arenacross race.

“These guys are definitely fast, there’s no doubt about that,” said Sellards who normally rides with the other series. “You think you can just come in and take over but then you race against them on the track and you realize how good they are. It’s definitely some great competition.”

Demuth, who injured his ankle in the 250 heat race as he grabbed the checkered flag, toughed it out and captured the Dash For Cash money on the night as well as the 450 main.
