American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) today announced that Team SoBe Suzuki factory rider Kevin Windham will not compete in Round 6 of the AMA EA Sports U.S. Supercross Series on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Ind.

Windham suffered a blow to his head during the 250 Main Event Feb. 2, 2002, at Edison International Field in Anaheim, Calif. Although there seems to be no sign of serious injury, Team Suzuki officials are taking every precaution to ensure Windham?s continuing good health.

“Although Kevin appears to be uninjured, we want to be 100 percent certain that he?s healthy,” said Mel Harris, vice president of ASMC?s motorcycle/ATV division. “Of course, Kevin is disappointed to miss any opportunity to race, but he knows that sitting out a week is the best move.”

Windham, a former 125 Western Region Supercross Champion, is expected to race during the Round 7 race at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn., on Feb. 16, 2002. This year marks his second season racing the RM250 for Team Sobe Suzuki.
