Starting in 2003, Team Red Bull KTM will expand its focus to the premier 250cc division, and former 125cc World Champion Grant Langston will lead the Austrian factory into battle aboard a 2003 KTM 250SX.
“I tested both the new 2003 KTM 250SX and a current Suzuki,” explained Langston. “Both bikes are excellent, but I had to follow my hearty and stay with KTM.”
Earlier this year, Langston had told us that he would only sign to contest a KTM in the 250cc class if the new machine was worlds better. “The new bike is incredible,” said Langston. “For 2003 it is an all-new machine and I know that it will be competitive at the highest level. If you think that the 125 KTMs are fast, wait until you see or ride the 2003 250!”
When asked how his preparation for next weekend’s 125cc National Championship was coming along, Langston replied, “Great! I’ve been riding several times and I am further along than I had expected to be. I’d like to say that I am going to Glen Helen with a 1-1 moto sweep in mind, but I don’t want to make any outrageous claims at this point in the game. The fact of the matter is that I am just off an injury and I am just glad to be able to race the first round. We’ll see how it goes. I think this is going to be an even more exciting season than last year’s.”
We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to see Grant aboard a big orange 250SX in next year’s Supercross and 250cc National Championship Series!
