DUBLIN, Ohio (April 26, 2007) — Mid-Ohio Motocross Park, located at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, announced its six-race 2007 motocross schedule, which will feature a race during the Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire and the Mid-East Regional Qualifier for the Air Nautiques / AMA Amateur National Championships.
Mid-Ohio Motocross Park, in only its second year of operation, will be home to the Mid-East Amateur Regional Qualifier (June 9-10) for the Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships, held at the legendary Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in July. This national event is the world’s largest and most prestigious amateur motocross race, as over 23,000 entries attempted to qualify in 2006. The qualifier will see over 700 riders at Mid-Ohio Motocross Park vying for their shot at a chance to compete in the finals at Loretta Lynn’s.
Enhancing the Honda Super Cycle Weekend presented by Dunlop Tire — the nation’s largest stand-alone AMA Superbike Championship event — is an AMA District 12 amateur motocross event (August 3-4). This event will feature motocross races in the late afternoon and evening, and is slated to be the largest attended amateur motocross race in the Midwest.
Mid-Ohio Motocross Park again will be home to the AMA Motocross Manufacturers Cup (September 22-23). This event, in its second year, will feature the sports’ marquee manufacturers such as Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, Yamaha, and others appointing their best riders from across the country to represent their organization. In addition to the Manufacturers Cup challenge, individual titles will be at stake in multiple AMA District 12 amateur motocross classes the same weekend.
Two additional AMA District 12 amateur events will be held on June 2-3 and October 6-7, while the traditional yearly AHRMA Vintage Motocross races at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will take place July 27-29, during the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days.
“As with our road course, each year it is our goal to bring together the best schedule of motocross events for amateur competitors and their families, said Michelle Trueman Gajoch, president of TrueSports, Incorporated, which owns and operates Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and The Mid-Ohio School. “We feel we’ve done that for 2007 with the return of four AMA District 12 events, the Motocross Manufacturers Cup, the addition of a race during our largest spectator weekend, and the Loretta Lynn Qualifier. We’re looking forward to an exciting second season of motocross action.
A comprehensive motorsports facility, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course features a permanent road racing circuit with two primary configurations: a 2.4-mile, 15-turn, and a 2.25-mile, 13-turn circuit. The park-like, 330-acre complex in Lexington, Ohio also features an amateur motocross venue. Located 60 miles north of Columbus and 75 miles south of Cleveland near Mansfield, the track has been called the most competitive in the U.S. and annually hosts a diversity of locally, regionally and nationally sanctioned racing events for amateur, club and professional riders and drivers.
Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, TrueSports, Incorporated is a privately held motorsports entertainment enterprise.
