With only three rounds remaining in the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championships, things are beginning to slow down a little. After a two-week break, however, that didn’t appear to be the case as practice kicked off, and teams and riders were back at it today at Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota for round 10 of the series.
With temperatures hovering around the mid-80s and barely a cloud in the sky, it was business as usual for current championship points leaders Team Monster Energy Kawasaki's James Stewart and Team Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto, as they posted the top qualifying times in the Motocross and Motocross Lites classes, respectively. Other notable riders of the day included last round winner Team Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki's Ryan Dungey who turned in the second quickest time in the Lites class, just less than a second behind Villopoto, and Team Yamaha's Josh Hill who surprisingly was the second quickest in the Motocross class.
Tomorrow's forecast calls for much of the same, as near perfect weather will likely greet fans and riders alike. As for Villopoto and Stewart, they could both wrap up their titles tomorrow if everything goes according to plan.
