The Lucas Oils AMA Motocross Championship took a break from racing this weekend, but that does not mean there was not great racing to be had elsewhere. The World Motocross Championship stopped in Teutschenthal for the GP of Germany, where some surprises in both the MX2 class and WMX helped make for an exciting weekend. GP of Germany
In MX1 action, Antonio Cairoli, yet again, retained the red number plate with another win, though hometown favorite Maximilian Nagl gave him a run for his money. Nagl now sits third overall behind Cairoli and defending champion, David Philippaerts. While the result was a bit predictable in the premier class, the MX2 finish proved to be historical. Ken Roczen of Germany out-raced the French favorites, Marvin Musquin and Gautier Paulin for a 2-2 finish and the overall victory at just fifteen years old. He is the youngest racer to win a GP ever.
Bad luck struck the speedy Livia Lancelot during her training leading up to the womens GP of Germany. She dislocated her shoulder, but still attempted to race this weekend. Unfortunately, her shoulder popped out in practice and she was unable to continue. This left the door open for Stephanie Laier and Larissa Papenmeier, who finished first and second overall.
