We are officially into the off-season of racing and, like every off-season, speculation about what’s happening behind the scenes is in full force. We will continue to keep you in the loop with all the latest gossip and news, but for Kickstart this week, we thought we’d provide some light-hearted good news to get your week started. First, we have chosen our six favorite “tweets” from some of the motocross personalities we follow on Twitter. Sure, there is a lot of useless crap tweeting through cyberspace, but every once in a while, there are some pretty funny comments. As you can see, Mike Mason is an all-star Tweeter. More often than not, he has some classic sh@% to say. Check them out for yourself.
In other uplifting news, Ross Maeda has made some progress in his rehabilitation, and we recorded a video of him updating everyone on his condition. For hose who don’t know, Ross, owner of Enzo Racing, wrecked on his dirt bike recently and has been rendered paralyzed from the waist down. We are all pushing for him to progress and overcome, but only time will tell. Check out his video below.
We wrap things up this week with Ryan Dungey. He is on the big bore and neck deep into testing. We caught up with him at the Suzuki test track recently and have the interview for you. Check it out at the bottom of the page.
This week’s best of…
“Seafood is probably the most disgusting thing on this planet….I just watched a dude eat something out of a shell that looked like a booger.” -Mike Mason
“Whoa dude, don’t ever watch the movie Express….good movie but I’m not gonna lie I almost cried!!” -Mike Mason
“Drinking Miller lite and listening to Miley Cyrus, is this what happens in Jersey?” -Mike Mason
“Headed down to Ryno’s for the 1st day of my new training program with him. gotta get n shape so my shirts fit better…” -Jeff Emig
“Ahhhh Roberto’s Tacos. My late night mistress. I will curse you in the morning when the mud comes.” - Carey Hart
“Damn shoulder reco, just cut the f@% outa me face shavin’ with my left hand. What a knob.” -Blake “Bilko” Williams
Good News from Ross Maeda
You can see what he wrote on his Caring Bridge message board RIGHT HERE or you can see him tell the story in the video below. Swap took his new Vado pocket cam with him to see Ross so he could provide an update to his family and friends.
Catching Up With… Ryan Dungey
We caught up with Ryan Dungey while he was testing on the big fo’ fiddy late last week. He filled us in on all the latest, including his experience at the 2009 Motocross of Nations now that he has returned to the States and let it settle in his mind a bit. Check it out for yourself below.

October 26th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
Why interview Dungey? Booooooooorrrrrring. He says nothing and trys to sound like carmichael. Im not asking him to go off the wall like J-Law but a little bit of personality would go a long way.
October 26th, 2009 at 11:02 pm
americans…
October 27th, 2009 at 12:15 am
Dungey can ride really well, but his interview skills are right up there with terrible. I have no doubt my old communcation college teacher would fail him. Please someone, Decoster, his parents, AMA, enroll him in some speaking classes. The amount of oral fillers…it needs to be addressed.

Don't know how you could smile after something like that but i hiope he gets too 100% hate bad accidents that end up that way hope all goes the best for him

He might not be making everybody laugh but he sure does a good job plugging sponsors. I remember at a supercross. Erin bates pulled the mic from dungey after a long "sponsor plugging" answer to a simple question. Her next question to him was about the track conditions. Of course his answer was "My dunlop tires were hooking up and man my RG3 suspension was working hard. as he said it he had a smirk on his face. He knew dang well she was trying for him not to get to do that but he got it all out anyways. with a cocky smile and all
October 27th, 2009 at 1:49 am

October 27th, 2009 at 4:24 am
Those are to hold their neck braces down instead of wearing a strap outside the jersey
October 27th, 2009 at 5:11 am
Somebody count how many times Dungey says "Uh" in his interview. I'm guessing 40 or 50 times.
October 27th, 2009 at 5:17 am
Wow I just counted. And let me tell you, it wasn't easy. I counted 63 "uh's".
October 27th, 2009 at 5:21 am
Ross only said uh 15 times…
October 27th, 2009 at 5:25 am
Ross is a beast, amazing news! One step closer to a full recovery
October 27th, 2009 at 7:32 am
haha I do remember that! That was good and pretty cool that erin an he were on the same wave length there. I remember smiling too. It was like finally he showed a little personality in it all and he was like ok, I'll back it down a little…smile. Hope to seem him battling this year thats for sure.

glad i ws wrong about dungey. 1- concerned that he would not get good starts on a 450 since he was new on a 450 (yes i know about the other couple races he did on 450)and therefore starting mid pack and being hard to get a good finish. 2- the actual mxon track was not nearly as sx as it seemed at first. i seen the track being built 3 wks prior in web pix. that track was way fun 2 watch at how rough it was in the corners and all. i am just saying i am glad i was wrong with my concerns.

October 29th, 2009 at 1:41 am
ross 4 life
October 29th, 2009 at 1:58 am
Carey Hart's quote was effin' funny. Good news 'bout Ross, and Dungey is a great kid, and kills is on a dirtbike, but I agree the "Uh's" are out of control.
October 29th, 2009 at 4:50 am
f-n-a, Cotton!
October 29th, 2009 at 2:16 pm
Way to go Ross! We've been pulling for you since the crash. Best of luck to you!!
October 31st, 2009 at 3:54 pm
He has cut back on the "uhhh"'s though… even since MXoN! so I think he's getting coaching. In time he'll be up to par I have no doubt..
