Supercross went all pink at Saturday in support of breast cancer patients and research. It was one of the most successful themed events the series has ever done, as just about every team and sponsor partcicipated in some way. Just about every aspect of the day was enjoyable, from the pink race and perfect conditions, to excellent racing and fan attendance, it’s safe to say the “Pink Race” was an overwhelming success.
As the series heads east next weekend for the first time this season, we will be seeing a whole new lineup of racers in the Lites Class, including defending champ, Christophe Pourcel, who is all healed up from his broken collarbone. Other contenders will include Nico Izzi, Tyla Rattray, Brett Metcalfe, Justin Barcia, Martin Davalos, and more. In other words, the class is stacked and will certainly deliver some excellent racing in Indianapolis.
For now those, here is a look back on last weekends happenings. Be sure to keep this in mind: Trey Canard is made up some significant points on Saturday with his performance and thanks to Jake Weimer’s mishap, is now only 14 points behind the Pro Circuit rider. With a two month hiatus, it will be interesting to see who stays health, and who comes back swinging in Seattle.
In 450s, this series continues to hold our attention. Although Ryan Dungey is still solid, his mistakes on Saturday, didn’t necessarily cost him the points lead, but he does now share it with San Manuel/Yamaha’s Josh Hill. Hill is just itching for a win, and now with Ryan Villopoto’s dominant win, he too will be a serious factor in the championship hunt. There is currently a three way battle for SX supremacy as we head east.
